iCloud and Outlook 2016 for Windows

There are several threads in the Apple forums and in the Microsoft Answers Community stating that iCloud is not working with Outlook 2016 for Windows. The Add-In cannot be enabled and iCloud control panel asks me to repair iCloud.

Is iCloud compatible with Office 2016 for Windows?

Thanks in advance

I spoke to both Apple and Microsoft level 2 support techs on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 and at that time they could not make it work. Microsoft said it's Apple's program and they should be fixing it soon, Apple said the fix is simply not ready yet because Outlook 2016 just came out. I keep looking for a fix... none available yet.

WHEN WILL APPLE FINALLY DEVELOP AN ADDIN FOR ICLOUD AND MSFT OUTLOOK 365. AAPL FAILED ON THIS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN READY DAY 1!!!!!

The caps lock is not necessary. You are addressing fellow users who do not need to be yelled at. If you read the entire post, you will see that Apple is working on something that should be released in the near future.

I know that, my developer account is maxed out, but again, if not being monitored it would not take place in seconds. Literally less than one minute from posting. To top it off, even though it was beta, the same topic was being openly discussed everywhere. In fact now that it is no longer beta, it was a simple statement of how I fixed the bug that was killing my Apple Watch before Watch OS2 was released. People were complaining about battery life here and all I posted was that rebooting my watch fixed the problem. Mighty beta secret, that no one would have reported, but Apple had it down in seconds. They do monitor community forums, ALL companies do or they don't last long.

Apple doesn't post in here as this is a community user to user forum, not a way to communicate with support. That is what the support option is for.

Ourdoc...it's the same story each time...the Apple elitists strike again! We should get it after all these years... Win10 Outlook 2016 users...Apple wonders when we'll learn we are not worthy of using an Apple product. Can't they just get along, work together, and fix this for all their users who try to support their products? Pretty petty and silly for Apple to always get defensive and point fingers and tell us what to post and where.

After working with Apple tech on Case 1038541963, they suggested strongly that I upgrade to iCloud with Outlook 2016 to solve this problem (not able to sync using USB cable and iTunes). This is what is happening:

Today has been a complete disaster. Fortunately, I am using the test system (my old PC) which was used to respond to Apples earlier request for testing.

Some of the issues:

  1. Turned on iCloud and set up to sync Contacts, Calendars and Tasks.
  2. 2,387 contacts could not be uploaded (of 16,000). No reason given except “Unexpected server error. (HTTP Status:400)” and looking at those contacts, there is nothing unusual about them (such as attachment or large notepad field).
  3. Message “Could not save changes to 10 items”. Note explains that someone else is working with these items, but that is not the case.
  4. After “setup complete” there were times when a dialog box came up and the only way to move forward was to delete
    some contacts.
  5. Tasks: The tasks folder in Outlook>iCloud>Tasks shows that there are 470 tasks. None show up visibly in Outlook (no problem before upgrade to iCloud).
  6. Changing or adding a contact results in message “Exceeding iCloud limits!”. So, the database cannot be used or modified.
  7. Checking the iCloud panel on my PC, it shows almost all of the 5GB space is free and available.

So, there are massive technical issues. I hope that high level management is aware and assigning resources for a prompt and
technically perfect solution. Also, all of us experiencing this need some form of response and assurance from Apple
Management.

I believe that your engineering management MUST follow the company directive listed here https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204230
where Outlook 2016 is clearly supported.

it seems we are halfway into 2016 and apple has yet to resolve this compatibility issue with icloud contacts and calendar and outlook 2016. Ive tried forums, blogs, apple's own tech service, online chat for apple help , and still apple chooses to ignore its customers. Bad move apple. I refuse to even consider getting an ipad or anything beyond an iphone 5s till apple fixes this. And yes, i have uninstallled and reinstalled icloud on my computer multiple times without it actually fixing anything!
