After working with Apple tech on Case 1038541963, they suggested strongly that I upgrade to iCloud with Outlook 2016 to solve this problem (not able to sync using USB cable and iTunes). This is what is happening:
Today has been a complete disaster. Fortunately, I am using the test system (my old PC) which was used to respond to Apples earlier request for testing.
Some of the issues:
- Turned on iCloud and set up to sync Contacts, Calendars and Tasks.
- 2,387 contacts could not be uploaded (of 16,000). No reason given except “Unexpected server error. (HTTP Status:400)” and looking at those contacts, there is nothing unusual about them (such as attachment or large notepad field).
- Message “Could not save changes to 10 items”. Note explains that someone else is working with these items, but that is not the case.
- After “setup complete” there were times when a dialog box came up and the only way to move forward was to delete
some contacts.
- Tasks: The tasks folder in Outlook>iCloud>Tasks shows that there are 470 tasks. None show up visibly in Outlook (no problem before upgrade to iCloud).
- Changing or adding a contact results in message “Exceeding iCloud limits!”. So, the database cannot be used or modified.
- Checking the iCloud panel on my PC, it shows almost all of the 5GB space is free and available.
So, there are massive technical issues. I hope that high level management is aware and assigning resources for a prompt and
technically perfect solution. Also, all of us experiencing this need some form of response and assurance from Apple
Management.
I believe that your engineering management MUST follow the company directive listed here https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204230
where Outlook 2016 is clearly supported.
