El Capitan - This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with "name@email.com" - is occurring frequently with my new installation of the OS

I upgraded my Mac Book Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) to OS X El Capitan (Version 10.11) yesterday, and now I'm getting frequent iCloud error messages:

This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with "myusername@gmail.com" Open iCloud preferences to fix this problem.

Same problem here (" This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with "name@email.com")

and none of the Replies by Just hanging on Oct 25, 2015 6:25 PM and selfuntitled on Dec 24, 2015 1:16 PM solved my problem...

Strangely only my contacts are affected (my ipad and iphone and icloud.com are synchronizing correctly the contacts but not my iMac).

If I create a new contact in my iMac it creates it correctly in icloud.com but it looks like it's the past of my contacts that cannot synchronized !

If I create a brand new user and connect to my icloud account, sometimes it creates me some of my icloud contacts (199 instead of 371), sometimes less (99) sometimes nothing at all. Looks like that for my contacts created before El capitan update, the process to download them from icloud is stopped by icloud !

Really weird because there is some kind of sincronization of my contacts (I can create new ones) but old ones are like disconnected... I precise i'm only use icloud as a sincronization.

After weeks searching a solution finally i found it in another forum (i already forgot where) but i just went to Finder, Go, (Press Alt) Library, and drag the "Keychains" folder to desktop (to backup all the files, just in case) and then restart my computer. After that, i just went to preferences and type the password for iCloud and my keychain under iCloud options.

And yes, it's it. Worked for me, i hope can help you.

Diagnose the fault:

1. go to spotlight, Open console application

2. once in the console application, clear the display by selecting the clear display button

3. then login to icloud with the error you experience.

4. have a look at the console application and see what errors are logged that could indicate the component causing the issue.

5. A common cause of this in EL Capitan is Kaspersky Mac, kav entries could be seen logged when getting this error communicating with apple id server.

Kaspersky mac fix:

1. go to Kaspersky Mac, turn protection off.

2. login to icloud applications on the macbook, this should succeed.

3. re-enable kaspersky mac protection.

this will resolve the issue.

I had similar issues : logging in to iCloud under System Preferences wouldn't work (my password would appear to be accepted, but then a moment later the Account Details button along with the items on the right-hand side, would be greyed out ; I would also sometimes get a message "An unknown error occurred").

I *think* I've now fixed it, after going to my "login" keychain, and deleting all items *except* private keys. (Chances are I deleted more than I needed ; another poster on this thread mentions deleting entries containing "my-Apple-ID" - I may well have only needed to delete my apple ID ones).

Hope this helps someone.
