Is anyone else having a problem staying connected to a Brother printer that is network connected after El Capitan install?

Hallo,
I had the same problem with Brother DCP-L2520DW, and solved it on the router not the printer. Try to find ARP binding on your router. In other words it is also called IP & MAC binding on TP-LINKs. It a kind of method that permanently binds printer's mac address with a chosen IP. After doing that delete permanent DHCP for your printer if you had done it before. Reboot router. Worked for me. Good luck.
Updating the printer firmware worked for me. I have an HL-2270DW. Here are the steps I went through:
- Reset printing system
- Downloaded firmware updating tool, installed and then ran. It took about 5 minutes to update the firmware on the printer
- Added the printer back in Settings>Printers and Scanners
That was it. It may also make sense to verify that you can connect to the printer via an IP address on your network. This also allowed me to see the printer firmware version and verify that it had been updated.
I know this sounds really basic. I fixed it by shutting down the printer for 10 seconds, and then quit my brother application on my macbook pro (2015). Then I turned on the printer and printed my document again. It worked. I forgot we had a thunderstorm last night and all the power went off then it went back on. So I figure it must be an electrical thing that disturbed the wireless connections. I thought a reboot once a while would fix the situation; which it did. I hope this helps. Good luck.
