ios 9 automatic download making me furious

Is there any way to prevent auto download of ios updates other than the general settings option for updates which does not impact ios updates but only app updates?

Here's the scenario: I have satellite isp and the forced auto download of IOS 9.0, 9.0.1 and 9.0.2, on multiple ios devices, have utilized all my paid bandwidth for the entire month effectively putting me and my business offline unless I purchase more bandwidth.

It's an issue every single ios update but the rapidity of recent updates and owning multiple ios devices currently have magnified the impact punishingly. This has been complained about for years has never been addressed other than forum posts online suggesting non-solutions like "filling the device so full of data that no more fits", jail breaking my devices, or apple store staff suggesting "disabling wifi", which is akin to a car dealer suggesting one can save gas by not driving ones car after you buy it.

Yes auto up date if off, OFF, OOOOOFFFF, OOOOOOFFFFFF!

Any suggestions disabling ios auto downloads and allowing full functionality of my devices is welcome.

A consideration offered by apple to somehow compensate for all the additional bandwidth purchases over the years is also welcome.

The logic beyond this function is beyond me. Why auto download if its not desired and not requested when the consequences can have such annoying and costly results. I also wonder how many public wifi networks have been steamrolled this month by every apple device trying to download all these updates. Its just impolite at best!

End of rant. Productive comments appreciated. Thanks!

No you couldn't, its not your thread.

People who are not the original poster can click on the "This helped me" at the bottom of a particular post. I just did it to yours. You'll see a number in parentheses saying how many people did that. Click on the number and you can see who. I don't really know what purpose it serves, though.

Oh yes, Is that new?

A couple of years? I've never been sure if it was just some sort of standard Jive thing or if there were plans for it (sort of like a FaceBook like) that have yet to materialize. And sometimes it doesn't work. Whether it's because we have a limited number that we can use in a day/thread or because Jive is just like that, I don't know.

If several helpfuls are clicked on the same message the poster will get points. The number of clicks is "classified".

I missed that memo. Good to know. Thanks.

You can give 2 stars per thread. Receiver gets 5 status points per star. On reaching a certain number of points you advance a level. Each level advancement brings you additional privileges. See below Link

https://discussions.apple.com/static/apple/tutorial/reputation.html.

The more posts you have, the more chances for stars, and consequent advancement in ranks. I just figured out that some people with heaps of time on their hands do exactly that by writing random posts with no added value to the matter in discussion.

Your post is interesting, but incorrect, and has nothing to do with the subject we were discussing. The only posts that count for points are those in response to the OP (Original Post), and only the Original Poster can award "points". So making lots of posts in a thread does not help anyone advance unless they were in response to the OP AND the OP decides they were helpful and marks them as helpful.

So it is NOT true that the more posts you have, the more chances for stars, unless your post really was helpful to the OP and they acknowledged it. About 20% of OPs bother to actually click the Helpful or Solved buttons that only they see, even when a post was helpful. And some of them mark their own response as Solved, so no one gets points for those.

But we were discussing the "this helped me" link. This is NOT the same as the Helpful and Solved buttons that only the OP sees. If you've never made an original post you've never seen these buttons, so it's natural that you wouldn't know they existed. Or perhaps you didn't notice them. The "This helped me" link on every message did nothing until recently. It appears now that if a lot of people click it (the actual number is probably greater than 5) the post will get a point. But you can look around and you will find that there aren't any that have a large number of clicks, so it is still irrelevant.
