Mac mini 2011 cannot set proper resolution for LG ultra wide 29 monitor.

I recently got a new LG 29 inch monitor for my mac mini 2011. However, I tried everything but the highest resolution I could get is stilled 1920x1080. Is there a way to achieve 2560x1080?

I have tried what others have suggested, a mini-display port to HDMI. However, it does not work for me.

Any suggestion will be helpful.

I tried both 1 and 2 however the problem seems to be that (I've spoken to the Apple support) the MacBook Air's maximum resolution doesn't reach 2560 x 1600 in which case my case has no salvation. 😟
