Wi-Fi problem "No hardware installed" - MacBook Pro mid 2009, Yosemite

Hello,

My Wi-Fi in no longer working and the systems says "Wi-Fi: No hardware installed" (See screenshot)

I tried different solutions and ultimately deleted the Wi-Fi interface in the Network panel within System Preferences, as suggested in a support forum, with the intention to add it back once the computer rebooted. Unfortunately now I can't even add the Wi-Fi back as an interface...

The systems lists "Bluetooth PAN", "FireWire", "Ethernet", "Bluetooth DUN", "VPN", "PPPoE" and "6 to 4", BUT NO WI-FI (See screenshot).

How can I get my Wi-Fi connection back?

Thanks for your help and support!

Best regards,

Olivier

So, I just had this happen with my MacBook pro (2015) & OS: El Capitain and called apple support.

Did the update and restarted and then my Wi-Fi stopped working and gave the "Wifi: No hardware installed" error.

Here is what they recommended that worked for me:

1) Shut down all applications (except for Finder - leave this open). To do this press Option + Command + Esc at the same time. Then close all apps.

2) Completely shut down your computer

3) While its off, press all of these at the same time Ctrl+option+shift+power and hold this down for a good 5 seconds. Then release at the same time.

4) power on your device normally using the power button. Hope this helps.

I have a Macbook Air mid 2009 version, i’ve tried all the suggestions but the problem still persists. At first when i tried it solved it but just temporarily, tried the second time it occured but failed to restore the service. I decided to shut down the laptop and not to use it for five days . Today when i switched ON the wifi started to work. But later the laptop re-started/re-booted by itself and now it displays the same error messsage. Any advise??

Also try turning off Bluetooth.

If your Wi-Fi source is capable of generating a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, try that to help avoid conflicts with Bluetooth.

I just purchase a 2011 Macbook pro 15" that displayed no hardware installed for wifi, nor did it display the hardware in system report. Tried changing to a new hardrive and new download of OS with no results. Just tried the Option - Command - Escape and forced stopped everything but Finder. Put it to sleep from apple menu, woke and chose restart from apple menu. The restart did not complete so pushed power button, heard chime. The first thing the Mac requested was to connect to wifi. So I did!
