Photo Preview is SICK (GREEN SCREEN) El Captain

Opening photos in preview causes them to come up green. This situation occurred right after I upgraded to El Capitan. Is anyone else having this problem?

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

I also HAD this problem.

In preview, I selected RESIZE image (Tools) to at lest one dimension smaller and Preview screen appeared normal as did the photograph.

However when I enlarge the photo (zoom in), Preview crashes or the green screen returns.

Not a big deal for me to see the photo at a slightly lower resolution on screen.

If I were to print he photo, all appears normal since the original image size of the file does not change.

This is after installing CAPTAIN.

Apple please take note.

Thanks All.

I'm having this issue as well. It only happens with photos that have certain color profiles ("sRGBIEC61966-2.1" is the only one I'm using that has issues), but seeing as it's impossible to view these photos in Preview, I've temporarily changed the default photo opener to Safari so I can quickly view them if needed. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with this issue! Hopefully Apple will fix it in one of the next El Capitan updates.

Thank you for another reason to not update -- Quite a number of my photographs have that color profile - you may want to give that information to Apple through Bug reporting. Would help if all with the problem gave the color profile in question.

Lana, That is exactly what the problem is. I was having the "green screen" problem on some of my images, but not all--just like you. On my machine (Macbook Pro mid 2014) some small image opened and some didn't. Some large images opened and some didn't.

However, in my case, the upgrade to version 10.11.1 fixed all my issues with preview. I now can see all my images without a problem.

I have a brand new Mac mini with El Capitan and I have the same problem with green screen on larger (especially portrait format) jpegs
They can be viewed in actual size but some green blocks still appear.
I tried "size on screen equals size on printout" and restarted but it does not help.
I see no recent solutions above.
It is rather disappointing as I work a lot with photos and Preview should be what it's name suggests.
When will this be fixed Apple?

Hi Everyone on this thread...

I have a similar but slightly different problem...the upgrade to El Capitan now boosts the color of all my photographs by 30 %!

All my legacy photos (sunsets, skies, etc.) are too strong : the reds and oranges even the blacks. Does not matter which app I open them

in PS, Preview, Pages, Safari, the stored image has a huge color boost. And the new epson printer faithfully prints the over saturated color

image just fine. Now I have no way to quickly print a copy when we sell one...more trial and error.

Anyone have a similar experience or solution?

Cheers

Toby
