ViewNX 2 Nikon software doesn't work with OS X El Capitan

Hello,

The ViewNX 2 Nikon software doesn't work with OS X El Capitan. The last version of the software was ok with OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

The installation app can't run the program. Anybody could help me with a solution? I've tried to reinstall but it doesn't work anyway.

thanks,

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11)

Hi bluecatnz,

I'm working with ViewNX1, which is what you should be using on a Mac, not View NX 2. Try downloading ViewNX1 at this link http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/download/sw/29.html.

In ViewNXI, at the top left of the window, you have Browse, Map, Edit and Web selection buttons. Select the Edit tab and the folders open so that you can select the appropriate location of your folders. I hope this helps. ViewNX1 is working fine with El Capitan and now with Sierra, but ViewNX2 crashed and didn't work well -- that's why Nikon advises using NX1 for Mac. Good luck.

Dear bluecatnz,

That's where they should be, unless you have moved them somewhere else???? If you remember the name of the folder, or even one of the pictures in the original folder, try doing a Spotlight Search with the folder name, and then click on "show all in finder", then click on the picture and try "get info" which should tell you where the folder is. Do you have any other software like Photoshop that will open a picture in your original folder so that you can locate it that way? Updating ViewNX1 should not have moved your folder...

Hi Barbara

When I connect to the USB, the photos are opened in program called "Photo" which opens automatically. I've found a work-around. I can select the photos in Photo, and import them. Then right click on Photos Library.photoslibrary which is in the Pictures folder, and chose "Show package contents". This then brings up the folders with the imported photos, but they are not accessible from ViewNX1. I've got around this, by dragging the whole folder into Nikon Transfer. It's a but of a clunky method - but my photos don't seem to be transferring automatically into Nikon Transfer 2 anymore.

If anyone as a similar problem, and managed a better fix - give me a shout.

Thanks for your advice Barbara.

Dear bluecatnz,

Have you gone into Preferences and checked the appropriate boxes to make the file folders appear? You should have a Folders column at the left of your ViewNX1 screen that lets you scroll through your entire computer file list and your external hard drives. I have a feeling that you just haven't made the folders selections area visible...you can set up your work area the way you want it, so check this out. You can also open Capture NXD (part of the ViewNX1 download) that allows you to access your files. Play around with it a little because this shouldn't be so hard for you!

Hi, I had the same problem on my new iMac 27 with el Capitan. I upgraded with OS Sierra and I found this useful link http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/it/download/sw/82.html.

Now I have at the same time Nikon View NX-i, my favourite software by Nikon, Capture NX-D and most of all Transfer-2.

And finally... everything's OK. I hope this will help you.
