iphone 6s camera lag

I’m experiencing an issue with my iPhone 6s where the camera app is sometimes very laggy when starting up. Most of the time things are fine – I open the camera app and instantly see images from the rear camera. However, on occasion I will get either the last photo taken showing or (more often) see really slow updates (like a frame a second) from the camera for 5-6 seconds before it becomes usable. I haven’t seen anything online about others experiencing this issue, so it would be good to know if this is an isolated hardware issue or something others are seeing (and likely to be fixed by a future software update). FWIW I have done a complete restore on the phone via iTunes without the issue being solved.

Dear All,

One more from Spain with the same lag camera issue with an IPhone 6s 128Gb. Exactly the same problem you are describing. Apple told me to restore with Itunes, 1-2 days seemed to go properly but now the same problema with IOS 9.2. Hardware or software problem? I don't know.. This thursday i have a date with genius bar and I will told you all. I will show them this link.

Hi All,

I had the same issue as reported by original poster and many in this forum. Initially when the issue started , the camera launch time used to be 8-10 sec on several occasions. Apple did a remote diagnostic and made sure there is no hardware issue and told me if I visit apple store, i will be provided with a refurbished device in exchange. Common Apple , I spend $810 for a iPhone 6s 64GB and within 3 months of use , I can never accept a refurbished device.I know how I took care of my phone and no way any customer should be treated with refurbished device at least within first 90 days.

Apple suggested me to do the following :

1. Reset All Setting

Still I saw this issue randomly, often when I wanted to capture something spontaneously

Please try this step too :

1. Settings -> Privacy -> Camera -. disable all the apps which has access

After I disabled all the apps, the issue was not seen, later I enabled one by one to find out the culprit.

I can still see this issue but occurrence is very rare, now the only app which has access to camera is skype and whatsapp . So you know who is the culprit 🙂.

On second thought's it can be due to new camera stack which apple has released for iphone 6s , as same application works flawlessly for iphone 6

Do let me know what happened once you did this

Thanks

i just want one simple answer from apple or anyone. how can it be possible to see an image that i have never ever shot when launching camera app?

thats very disturbing. i could see anything on it.

i guess i could even sue apple for monitoring my whole life.

my iphone 6s is working flawlessly except camera and the problem i am facing is not something simple. its not only a 1-2 seconds lag issue.

i see a random image of somewhere i have been and havent shot picture of it.

using 9.2, set it as a new phone. only whatsapp has got camera acsess and havent got really many apps, mostly stock ones.

this is driving me crazy.

Yesteday I was focusing the IPhone with camera app to a teammate but no picture was taken. After 5-10 min I opened the app and my teammate was in the screen for 4-5 second.

Over 17:00 i opened camera app and a black screen appeared and no pictute could take, i had to force close the app and with lag but the second time opened it properly.

I Insist that I restored the IPhone twice.

One more thing... With camera + app I don't have any problem so I am convinced it is a failure with camera app. Please anyone could confirm with another camera app problem disappear?

good point. i have never witnessed the issue with whatsapp. whenever i open it, the camera or video instantly ready to capture.

so we have two problems with stock camera app.

1- it captures or caches pictures without user permission so when we open the camera app, we see that frozen picture for few seconds.

2 - it shows black screen for few seconds when launching the camera app.

so i believe its somethning to do with software. especially camera app.

i suspect also live picture feature causes and interferes with camera app.

9.2.1 update or 9.3 must definetely solve this otherwise we have a major problem.

Mine is a TSMC sure N71mAP, i checked it with Lirum. I am almost certain it is a software problem cause with Camera+ App it seemed to go properly.

I usually use the shortcut camera with lock screen and when you can not take a photo....

Maybe i have a heavy photo library over 7000 picture in high resolution downloaded in photos... and maybe camera app use camera roll (now photos)sometime...

I never use "camera+" app, so problem not here. i am also have big library of photos, nor than 5000 in hi res. But all this arguments totally crashd by expiriance. I try to setup iPhone as a "new iPhone" without any apps and 0 of photos. After 2 hours the problem starts appearing.

but! There exist way to be absolutly shure that next time when camera start will be no any lags. Just close camera app after using (remove from memory by swiping up).
