iphone 6s camera lag

has anyone tried dfu restore? i heard someone saying it helped. i havent done it but wonder if it fixes. i hope apple fixes the camera lag. 9.2.1 doesnt.

Yesterday afternoon i was in Apple Store La Cañada in Marbella.

They confirmed me that it is a software problem.

This is the resolution from Apple:

"Cliente experimenta con aplicacion de camara nativa de ios para iphone que se queda congelada en negro y a veces incluso la ultima imagen que paso por objetivo sin si quiera haber hecho una foto, diag todo correcto vmi ok, realizamos restauracion en dfu para descartar problemas de sofware y sin recuperar copia de seguridad..."

I explained them the problem and they told me it was(IS, cause the problem didn't disappear) a software problem. The performed a complete diagnostic with an Ipad, VMI OK(Dont know what it's!)DFU restore and configuration as new iPhone without backup restore. Ahh they took over 10 min checking the hardware (at least they told me that) in a workshop behind the Genius Bar. All ok.

After 30 minutes the same random problems....

Unfocused image 1-2 second before camera ready.

Black screen, to solve this you have to force close the app or swipe to video, time lapse....

A sharp image over 1-3 second never taken!

i am bored about this issue, hopefully a new IOS version fix this issue....

I have iPhone 6s 64 GB (iOS 9.2.1), same issue, yesterday I was in hurry & tried to take a picture but the camera as usual stacked.

I wasn't able to use the stock camera app, then I used another app & every thing was good.

This is a very serious issue & an important matter in the age of smartphone Journalism, where huge increasing number of reporters & others are depending on smartphone camera to capture the moment of events & publish it to the media.

Apple should look seriously to that issue and fix it as soon as possible.

I went to apple store to get this issue checked at store. They did some diagnostic test and found some apps to be crashing ( "seeking alpha etc" ) . I did observe seeking alpha crash sometimes, but what I cannot understand is how this is related to camera .

Store guys suggested me to do full restore via itunes. I did it and still this issue is present. Currently only skype and whatsapp have access to camera.

One more thing i observed is , when this issue occurs and if i capture my monitor, i can see a wave (like screen refresh rate , not sure what it is called)

The store guy also tried launching camera app in his iphone 6 plus , I could see a black screen for 1 sec before the camera launched properly

i guess there is a software problem that causes this lag because whenever i acsess the camera by whatsapp, google keep etc. there is no lag at all. the camera is instantly ready but if i launch the camera app itself one in 4-5 times i may see that lag ( black screen or frozen image 1-2 sec. )

i strongly believe that apple will fix it on ios 9.3 or some future software updates. if not, i'll be surprized to know its a hardware issue then the only solution would be to swap it from apple.

I tried to restore my phone but the problem still occurring.Then i turned off location services, make sure the camera could not use location services, the camera was smoothly. I not sure the problem fixed, but may be the issue come from location services. When i turned on camera, it tried to access the location services and delayed

nope, i dont believe its related to location services. mine has been off since the beginning, no change.

as i said before, since any app that has acsess to camera, say whatsapp, whenever i launch the camera through that app, i havent witnessed any lag at all.

but the camera app itself is laggy from time to time, which makes me assume it is related to camera app functioning, something,some features like live photo could be culprit.

that easily can be solved by a future ios update, 9.3 or later.

the point is, does apple know about this and are they gonna fix it? i think nothing is wrong with the hardware in our iphones..

I Have exactly the sane issue. Ive misser a lots of moments while "hunting" my children for a good shot. it is so annoying, that I thing of downgrade back to iphone 6, which caused no troubles whatsoever

True, we lose wonderful moments due to this issue which Apple never agrees

Motorola moto g is far better for $179 with sd card slot . I am not comparing quality of pictures. When I require camera, it should launch and provide me instant access.

I've uploaded video on youtube which shows my camera issue ( 64GB iphone 6s unlocked one ) . Sometimes I do see camera freeze for 5-6 seconds or more .

I have not been able to capture this as its unpredictable and occurs rarely

Just adding my voice to this list - I have the same problem of time lag on camera start-up on my iPhone 6s 64GB running IOS 9.2.1
