"unable to download purchase. Try again on Purchased page" Help please?????

Okay guys, bought 2 apps and whoever I try to install them on the purchases page, it says "app failed to download. Please use the purchases page to try again."
I read other threads and tried a lot of things already. Tried deleting them from the applications folder, restarted, hit the reset all warnings for purchases button, under account settings, etc.

I really don't know what to do. I paid money for these apps, and it won't let me download. I have a 2013 mbp with El Capitan running. Can't figure it out.

Any help at all would be very much appreciated.

HI Dave,

I am in the same boat. Apple support sent me an email telling me to download it from the purchase page. I told them in the support email that I did all the things that you did and even contacted the game creator who said they have told Apple and Apple app store of the problem a few times. They checked their own servers and the problem is not on their side it has to do with Apple and their servers or programming. I need the game app for my Masters course in creative writing so we can use it to learn to write dialogue for games. They need to fix this and read the emails so they don't give advice you already told them didn't work. I am really upset with them. My Macbook Pro is new and already messing up. One forum said to delete all anti virus and anti malware software. The school which uses Mac and Mac software told us to be sure to protect our Macs because viruses have been getting into the Apple Mac systems. My Mac shuts down on its own. It closes the browser and crashes. I am at a loss as to what to do. The school uses Mac only because of the reliability and it is a University that focuses on entertainment and creative degrees. All the software is preloaded into our Macs when they send them out. I mean the core apps you would normally have to purchase. Then we get codes for other programs like Final Draft, and other programs like the Game I need. I am going to complain to the school about Apple support and how unhelpful they are. Plus they never accept resposibility for anything. They say oh you must have dropped it or done something. They had that lawsuit about the faulty screens and then some internal thing that was no good. They are offering to repair them now. After I had my screen replaced they with the same screen by a certified Apple repair because Apple wanted 600 dollars. It was replaced with the same screen that they were replacing on the other Macs. They refused to replace mine because someone had replaced it that was not their company ever thougo they are certified by Apple to refurbish, repair, and resell Apple products. I miss my pc laptop. I like my Mac dont get me wrong but their support *****.

Okay guys. UPDATE.

I called the game company that sells the game I bought on the App store. Keep in mind, there are still other games giving me the same problem, but since this game the was most important/expensive, I contacted them first. If anyone wants to know, it was Feral Interactive, creator of a LOT of games on the app store.

So, called them and explained the problem, and before I could even barely start explaining, the guy knew all about this problem, and said he has been answering over 400 calls and tons of emails everyday for the last few days/weeks.

He said that they have contacted Apple numerous times, and going to meet with some group from Apple to talk about this and resolve it. He said that ever since about a week or two ago Apple completely CHANGED the way applications are installed on the Macs. I didn't quite understand it all, but something about when you download an App, the App store makes it very simple and turns it into a One Click automatic process when you click "install." But, since the Change, now the easy process of installing an app from the app store somehow doesn't work anymore, and there are two options he told me.

First, I can call Apple, they are very good he said at giving refunds, and no questions asked they will give me my money back.

Second, since I didn't want that and wanted my app, he said if I sent him a screen shot of my purchases page where it says "app won't download", he can send me a special link to download the app from his company straight to my computer, without going through the app store.

Well, I went with the second choice, and sure enough it worked very easily, and now I have the app on my computer like normal.

But, just want to let everyone know, that he has been dealing with this constantly for the last few days, or a week or two, and its NOT the apps themselves!

IT IS APPLE, and whatever they changed a few days ago, so now the simple process of going to app store, clicking install, is not working anymore, and yes this is with other operating systems too.

He said he and his team are meeting with apple this week to try to get this fixed, and they AND apple know all about the issue everyone is having.

I hope this helps anyone wondering what the **** is going on.

Okay guys, what the heck happened?

xhruso just posted on exactly how to fix this problem due to Apple's CDN, after he said the mods keep deleting his posts. I was about to reply to him, when I see the post is DELETED.

Why are the mods doing this? STOP deleting comments that will help others having a hard time with this issue. He seems like the one guy that knows exactly what is going on. Like I said, its APPLE's fault, and xhruso confirmed this and is only trying to help.

xhruso00, thats really too bad. I literally just tried to reply to you and watched your comments completely disappear within seconds.

I'm not sure why? Anyone?

We come here to get answers, right? When a knowledgeable person speaks out and gives us an answer, why would that answer be deleted, like the guy did something wrong?

I really don't understand this place I guess. Thought it was a place I could go for help.

This is terrible... Talking about conspiracy.. Ha ha ha...

IF I use the "Terminal" method... Is there a way to reverse it to how it was originally? Will it be necessary to do it? I mean, is it adding the IP address or replacing it? Will I have problems with the new Apple servers in the future?

Sorry if I seem hesitant, but I don't know much about how terminal works only that it can mess everything up....

Oct 10, 2015 6:54 PM in response to xhruso00

Well of course you would, because Apple did not find the solution and hence you can only be wrong - as a client...... Apple is the VW of the IT world. Imagine what other "features" Apple is not admitting to.

Perhaps it's time the company stopped operating like a crèche and took their clients seriously. Being a Microsoft shop at work but loving my Mac at home (I am a devout C= Amiga freak from way back), this sort of jiggery pokery only enhances my opinion that Apple can't cut it in the corporate field. How many CIOs are going to accept this sort of behaviour?

Still, this post will probably be deleted so who cares - right?

Hi Ale,

The hosts file is common on all platforms (Linux / Windows / Mac) so yes, simply delete the entries that you added. Probably better than that, make a copy of your original hosts file, add the entries, download the App and then revert back to the original. Make sure to restart you machine after reverting to clear the DNS cache and routing tables.

As for me, I am going to be a bugger and keep hounding Apple to sort their CDN network out. I don't really need to use Toast Burn - but it's the principle of the matter....
