What happened to my scanner El Capitan?

Thanks Apple! After I upgraded to El Capitan I went to use my scanner and behold I can't see it anymore. I have an Epson perfection 2450 Photo scanner which I use for scanning and faxing. So at the present I no longer have a scanner or a fax, thanks Apple! I went to the Epson website to re-install the driver, that didn't work. Then I removed it from Printers and scanners in System Preferences and tried to add it but now my network does't even see it anymore. Does anyone else have this problem?

I just got off the phone with Epson. They suggested I change my connection to USB. That worked so I'm guessing the 2 Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adaptors I purchased are not being supported along with Firewire anymore. Great job Apple! I really miss Steve Jobs more and more especially as things get worse with Apple.

I'm sure Apple will delete this post.

I did the 'upgrade' to El Capitan from Yosemite a couple of days ago. iMac pretty much top spec according to the Apple Store.

I have 2 scanners, both connected by USB. :

1. Epson XP-700

2. Canon Lide700F

Immediately after the upgrade, I couldn't even print to the Epson, but managed to get it back by deleting and reinstalling it.

Now, the Epson is visible in Printers & Scanners. I can print to it, but Epson Scan doesn't see it, therefore cannot scan. According the the Epson support site, my driver for it is the most recent.

The Canon is not visible in Printers and Scanners, and the only way I got it to work at all was to download the latest TWAIN driver from the Canon website. Now I can scan using Canon's MP Navigator program, but the scanner is STILL not visible in Printers & Scanners. As a result, I have had to change the settings in Photoscore (that's OCR for sheet music), which doesn't work as nicely as using Photoscore to scan music directly.

Same issues here ... Yosemite was good, and El Crapitan is just a poor release that I don't expect from Apple .... I run a small business and the scanner was always a wireless option - NOW - 4 people walk over and plug their MBookPros into the Printer/Scanner ... 😕 - and nothing seems to be happening.

I have had so many conversations with techs who don't know the answers ..... 😠

Launchpad > Other > Image Capture.

Don't know why this Other bit doesn't show the contents in alphabetical order, probably some settting that I haven't bothered to learn!

Incidentally, System Preferences on my iMac sometimes shows my Epson XP700 and Canon LIDE700F, but Epson Scan still doesn't work. I have given up, and just use the Canon for scanning, which works even with MP Navigator even when not visible in System Preferences (sigh)
