Intermittent freezing/typing lag with El Capitan

Experiencing intermittent freezing (typing lag) since upgrading to El Capitan on my Early 2008 15" Macbook Pro. Regardless of application - while typing, the cursor will freeze and withhold characters and then pickup the typing again. Difficult to log into sights requiring passwords because it will freeze while typing a password. It actually has frozen several times while typing into this forum causing me to retype words as I go. I saw something about resetting the SMC on another forum and so I tried that - fixed the keyboard light issue I had been experiencing - but freezing/lagging continues. Any suggestions?

iMessage was constantly freezing up on me in El Capitan on a 2015 Macbook Pro. Additionally, my battery was draining incredible quickly due to several system processes were operating in overdrive...heating up the machine, etc. My solution proved to be simple. As I had on contacts via google, I migrated all contacts to iCloud and shut down messages on my Google account. Boom! Problem instantly solved.

Hi, I have Macbook Pro 15.4inch 2012 I purchased I'm just a very basic user but have been having a multiple of problems with my trackpad/cursor freezing, ( I'm fully updated to latest L Capitan) pages disappearing & reappearing, option windows appearing anywhere on the screen like for reloading a page etc. a multiple of different ones. The cursor would move by itself or judder across the screen. Too many weird things to mention here. but noticed all this happening after I cleaned my trackpad with a side to side motion. Sometimes I'd think the problem had corrected itself as it would be fine for hours. It was better using the mouse but was still happening & then the problems would come back full on.

I have done one thing (@ the suggestion of a helpful staff member @ Talk to the Mac Cairns) & that is go to System Preferences & trackpad, unchecked the double click ( the second option)& am just using the one click & tap( the third option) it does seem to have stopped all the problems but it's only a short time so will update in a few day's. Maybe Apple themselves are doing something or they should be aware & please fix the problem/s, don't have an Apple agent locally so was about to send my computer away to be fixed. It's a bit disturbing having so many thing's going haywire all @ once.

I had this problem too, and recently just solved it with a change of browser. I had been using Chrome on my phone and tablet and enjoyed the convenience of the fast browser, shared saved bookmarks and open tabs, but when I started switching to Safari or Firefox for my internet search, typing and transactions, all the lagging was gone, and my 2009 MacBook Pro is once again rejuvenated!
