I have upgraded to el capitan, however when try logging in to iCloud or App store get the error There was an error connecting to the apple id server. tried changing password and creating a new account, however still get this issue.

JB, thanks so much for your solution - it worked for me. I have spent hours trying all the different solutions, such as the Keychain Access ones, but nothing worked. I was very frustrated. I am happy now.
