Congratulations you have won an iPhone pop-up

Every time I try to use safari on my iPhone 6 I get a pop up message saying "Congratulations! You won an iPhone press any button to confirm". It looks like the message comes from Facebook but obviously it's not. The first time it comes up you can select cancel and it goes away. The second time there is no option other than to press ok or close safari. I cannot use the internet at all on my phone. I have deleted all recently installed apps, cleared my cache ,cookies, history etc and performed a restore and it is still there. Anyone have any ideas?

Apple still hasn’t fixed this in iOS 11.2 iPhone X. What a shame. None of the solutions work for more than a minute. This is a serious bug and because Apple doesn’t allow us to change the default browser, this is a legitimate issue for a legal burden on Apple.

That’s not true. That doesn’t work. Don’t you think everyone tried clearing their browsers or resetting their phone? DID NOT WORK. And no it’s not always something the users did. Why do you have to be so rude. If you can’t help then move on.

Disagreeing with you or telling you something you don't like is not "rude". And Lawrence's advice is correct. Whether or not you intended to visit a compromised site is not the point. No one sets out to step in a puddle or stub their toe. It's still not anyone else's fault.

Being condescending is rude. Period. Again, it didn’t work. As many have already said. No one asked for, or needs, opinions. They just want help with their phones. Nothing more. Also, again, if you can’t help then just move on. No one needs lessons in what they MIGHT have done wrong.

No one is being condescending. And yes, sometimes our problems are, at least in part, the result of something we did. The important thing is to learn from our mistakes.

Hi, Thank you. Yes, of course I blocked pop-ups. The you have won message appears when you open safari, or type in any address. It does not appear as a pop-up, as those are blocked, but rather any HTTP address typed in the address bar is redicted to this, your have won an amazon... message

It simply redirects anything that is in the address bar to the offending page.

Yes, I followed all of the instructions to a T. I properly closed safari (Double-pressed the HOME button and swiped up on Safari) and cleared my cache (Settings/Safari and cleared History and Website data). I just did it again to double check, and it redirects my page to "gitcardmob.top" and the message is "Congratulations! Amazon.com User! You have been selected for a ....[blah blah blah]". I can't shake the redirecting.

It doesn't even seem to be limited to particular browsers. I have both Safari and Chrome on my iPad, and I get the same pop-ups every single time I open up either browser. Not even uninstalling and then reinstalling Chrome changed anything. All this started just in the last day or two.

I may have to try completely wipe my iPad clear and reinstall everything.

That would be a waste of time.

The popups are not caused by anything on your iPad, rather they are coming from javascript code embedded somewhere in the web site you are visiting, and almost always an advertisement on that page.

You can either ignore them as a nuisance, stop visiting that page or find an ad blocker that works for you.

Congratulations you have won an iPhone pop-up
