App Store update icons grey/missing

Same here. I kept 3 programs not updated and today they show their colors before I update them. But the update "progress clock" doesn't work anymore. The circle around the square dot stays the same until it completes. At first I thought they were all stuck. But they did all update and that symbol changed to "open".

Just now deleted an app from my phone and my iMac in iTunes), synced my phone and then re-download the app on my phone and my iMac IiTunes through app store) and did another sync. The icon on the App Store list on my phone is still gray. The app runs fine on my iPhone 6s. This is not acceptable.

I'm also experiencing the same issue, began about October 7-8 on both iPhones W iOS 9.0.2.

I have received a reply asking for more information, in fact information I already included in the initial report... I guess they are stalling for time..

Will keep you updated, some people are seeing thing back to normal, but I haven't had an update since. Will let you know

I have just updated two apps. The icons are no longer grey but coloured. The problem seems to be over although the last updates on the update page are still grey...

Today I have one newly updated app on my iPhone and another on my iPad. Both were showing their correct coloured icon.

But all the previous ones are still grey and I still have to scroll up and down the list to force most of these icons to refresh and appear correctly.

Just downloaded Adobe Acrobat and icon showed as it should so it "might" actually be fixed. Older downloaded apps remain gray.

An extract from the next reply I received....

"I’ve reviewed the screenshot and found that this issue has already been raised to our technical team. As a workaround while waiting for the investigation, customer’s are advised to delete the affected apps and redownload them back from the purchased page."

this suggests to me they believe the updates are not completing.

I have received 3 updates this morning and they are now displaying correctly. It does seem that Apple have resolved an issue at 'their' end. The grey ones received remain grey.

The funny thing is: When you delete an app which is grey listed and reinstall that app, it will be shown in the updatesection in grey again.

I wonder if the app store is still suffering a hangover. Whilst the issue seems resolved I did receive updates for MS office and excel overnight in UK (both correctly displaying the icons). They are large apps (350 mb approx. each) but even accounting for that the update was ridiculously slow. It took about 30 minutes just to complete one of them. That's about 2 m/bits second or 200/300 kilobytes a sec. My ISP gives me 55/60 m/bits a second and testing everything internet related (speedtests etc) confirmed everything else but the apple store was upto speed.

Yes Scottyboy, I see the same problem. I guess they had the update servers offline for a while and now it is trying to catch up with the billions of idevices out there. Spotify a very popular app is repeatedly failing on error 502 in iTunes, which indicates a download issue. I guess it will all settle down.

Yep I now see what you mean by the download error. I just looked at my phone. 3 updates waiting for me but when I tap update it circles for a few moments and then returns to update status. Obviously something going on

I have same "problem" too with iPad air, iOS 9.0.2

But it seems solved since morning today :-)
