Hue Bridge 2.0 HomeKit Problem

I got the bridge 2.0 and set it up and all worked ok.

Now siri does not work any more. When I try to set up again, i get the message:

"Another user already paired the HomeKit enabled bridge. Please ask the user to share his / her home kit settings in order for you to start using Siri voice control"

I checked online and philips page said to log out of iCloud and try again. But when I do that, it says to log into keychain. So I log back into iCloud and enable keychain but then I get the same original message as above.

Anyone know what's going on?

Installing iOS 9.2 and latest bridge firmware did NOT worked for me. I even removed my Hue app and, after reinstallation, got the same message saying that homekit is tied to another user....

Ah, and for the record, I contacted Philips explaining the whole situation in detail. Guess what they said in 3 words: reset your bridge.

No explanation of the problem, no excuse.... this company seem to mix up customer and beta tester !!!!

I hit this "Another user already paired" error after resetting HomeKit as well (since Siri wasn't working). After both resetting the bridge and restarting my phone to no avail, I eventually realized that the HomeKit OCR was reading the setup code incorrectly (perhaps due to dim lighting, since the lights aren't set up 😝 ). Now it works! So make sure the HomeKit setup code is actually correct, or enter it manually!

Yes, after you reset HomeKit, it generates a new encryption key. ALL HomeKit devices will need to be reset to attach to that account. This problem is not exclusive to Hue devices. However, my ecobee3 is smart enough to hold its local settings so it doesn't need to be reprogrammed. Philips definitely needs a backup routine. I understand why this is happening... It just makes configurations a nightmare.

jrc: I had problems with some OCR too... I've had to manually enter several devices.

Wow, there is a lot of misinformation in this thread. ikowilson's solution back on the first page worked for me, thanks.

I don't think it is necessary in most cases to reset HomeKit, just delete the shared user's Homekit configuration and continue on. I found that the two critical items from the procedure above are the invitation via icloud mail, and then making sure the user with whom the Home is shared deletes the default (local) Home account. I also recommend renaming Home to something else so that there is no confusion.

However, if you configure the Eve app with information about your rooms and lights, Siri will respond to more logical voice commands to control them. Hue's interface to edit Homekit information is virtually nonexistent. That is part of the problem with folks saying that Siri only responds to limited commands about the lights - Homekit initially uses the default names for the lights, which you have undoubtedly renamed in Hue.

Everyone, I got it to work but you need to carefully follow these directions. You will need to do some reconfiguring on some level.

1. Presuming your phone will be the main account for the HomeKit settings, start by resetting your HomeKit Configurations under Settings / Privacy / HomeKit

2. Using your phone, go to this link:http://www2.meethue.com/media/3173537/pressguidelines_homekitcompressed.pdf and follow the directions. You will need a third party app like Elgato Eve to set this up.

3. After you have successfully configured your lights, test to make sure all your Siri commands work (both rooms and scenes).

4. To share your HomeKit settings you will need to enter in your roommate or family member's icloud account. NOTE: I tried to add my girlfriend's account using her gmail account associated with her apple ID. That didn't work. I had to use her @icloud.com email.

5. Once you've added it, the other person's phone will say that they have been invited. They have to go to Settings / Homekit and accept the invitation.

6. It took me awhile to figure this out but this is important, your roommate/family member should download the Elgato Eve app and start it up. The settings should automatically have been added when it launches.

7. Your roommate / family member must go to Settings / Homekit. They will see that there is a local HOME account and also a shared HOME account. They must delete their local Home Account (not shared) so that only the shared one exists. Siri didn't respond to commands on the shared account until I did that.

Hope that helps. I can explain in more details if anyone has questions.

The error "another user already paired.." can be solved by a new command via the API Debug Tool of the Bridge

A short guide to use this tool:

After that I was able to set up the Siri-Function in the App of my iPhone. All lamps and Settings are retained
