iPhone pictures don't load in Photos

In other words you didn't experience the problem, are now bragging about not experience the problem and believe yourself superior and politically correct. So why did you bother posting? Oh, to boost your ego.

I have this problem too but no other service for photos is running. I've installed some update and Photos app started to auto run on iPhone again but this I've turned off in terminal again. I use iPhoto for everything. Runnig El Capitan.

After trying the answers I found in forums I accidentally took a photo while in camera mode while connected to my Mac with the cable. Instantly the photos showed and importing was then working in Photos, iPhoto and ImageCapture. So apparently taking a photo fixed what ever was wrong at the iOS devices end and it began communicating again. Hope this works for you too.

The solution for me was extremely simple...

1. Plug phone in

2. Launch iPhoto

3. Grab phone and unlock it using your thumbprint

4. Photos will instantly populate and transfer

5. Move on to next first world problem

This worked for me too. THANKS. And I read everything in all the messages and tried everything - even wiped and reset the IPAD. Nothing worked so in desperation I tried the "take a picture while plugged into the mac" and then all my photos showed up.

First thing I would try is a simple reboot, both of your iPhone and your Mac. My Mac is rebooted at least daily (I switch off at night) and I try to reboot my iPhone (the 4s in my case) at least once a week. I have just made a picture with the iPhone (I hardly ever use a phone for making pictures; I take photography far more serious 😉), hooked up my iPhone to my iMac, and iTunes is launched immediately for syncing. I have to launch Photos (or iPhoto, I still have that program active as well) and both program show my phone in the left sidebar and in the middle two titles: Already imported (xx items) and below that New Photos (x photos).

If rebooting doesn't help, I wonder whether repairing your library would make a difference... It wouldn't hurt to try.

Same problem here, and an answer would be very much appreciated... I have exactly the same problem. iPhone is recognized, but import page is blank (or, sometimes, after 5-10 minutes blank, it just states '0 photos', which is obviously not the case).

Has anyone tried resetting the iPhone? Attention: if you have still have pictures on your phone, you will need to get them off first, e.g., by using Image Capture.

I guess so, and I would only suggest resetting as last resort. But it is strange (not that Photos doesn't see the iPhone -there are other reports of this issue- but that Image Capture is unable to help you out.

Could you please indicate which independent software helped you to download photos? I have the same issue and neither Photos nor Image capture could see photos on my Iphone (however they see the device).

I have exactly the same issue after upgrading to El Capitan and iOS 9 (iphone 6S and iphone 5S) - neither Photos nor Image capture could see photos on my Iphone (however they see the device). I actually downloaded photos using iCloud, but this decision doesn't looks elegant.
