I updated 2 computers to El Capitan and now there is no option for cover flow in the save or open dialog boxes. My adobe products were in cover flow mode at first but when I chose list, I noticed there was no button for cover flow any more. It's there in finder only. Anyone else have this issue? Any idea if this was done for a reason?

For designers this is totally useless. Coverflow from within the apps to quickly find the files needed, is one of the most important features for designers.
Apple has pretty much ruined my workflow I have been using for years. It needs to come back asap.
I have posted on the feedback page to apple about the problem. Please do the same to put pressure on the devs to put it back.
Any application that uses the Cocoa frameworks on El Capitan, and uses the NSOpenPanel class and methods — will present a File chooser interface without coverflow. There is no developer option to provide a coverflow view. On macOS Sierra, only an icon view, and list view are provided in this open file panel.
Any application that utilizes the above NSOpenPanel class and its methods is subject to ongoing changes that Apple may make with respect to deprecation/removal of features in that class. An application on an older version of OS X, may now have changed, after an OS X update, due to these Apple changes.

The missing cover flow is the responsibility of the app developers rather than Apple's? Should we take this to Adobe support instead?

No, you got it wrong. Apple changed the framework, and coverflow is not available. You should send your feedback to Apple.
Heres a screenshot comparing Photoshop to finder. But I get the same results from any program Ive tried so far including Chrome, Textedit and a few Adobe progams
It does appear to be gone, but the difference between "list" and "cover flow" views really is not that big - the "preview" is on the right in list view (on the top in coverflow), you don't have the animated scrolling through the thumbnails, and you have to use the up/down arrows to scroll (cover flow works with left/right in addition to up/down). The only real loss is that you can't see all the thumbnails simultaneously (but for that, icon view sort of works).
I can see where cover flow is tremendously useful in something like photoshop. Fortunately, with Adobe products you can use Bridge as an alternative.
Apple may be slowly phasing it out. It disappeared from iTunes a while ago.
Bummer. Cover flow is faster for me to browse through tons of images when doing design work. I can just scroll and see multiple images at once when Im placing an image in Indesign or opening something in Photoshop. I wonder if Cover flow was causing problems or something.
This is a ridiculous omission.
If it's in finder, it must be a glitch. We need to lobby Apple to bring it back in in the next update.

This is just absurd!! Does Apple not realize how useful cover flow is to designers?? As soon as I updated to El Captain, poof!! The option was omitted from all Adobe CC products? What Idiots!!! First i switched to HTC from i-Phone, and was held hostage by iMessage for a week, now this!!! Definitely considering leaving Apple all together. This is BS.
Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Yes this is an absurd step backward - I can't think of why they would walk this back - if the coverflow images have already been cached in the Finder (or even if they aren't, Apple could fix this,) it shouldn't be a performance issue. Too bad, Apple.
The biggest loss is the inability to sort by different attributes (date modified, file type, etc), while still seeing a visual preview of the file. List does offer the preview but you cannot sort by different things.
My default view was always cover flow... so to lose this ***** big time.
Their response will be to upgrade to Sierra, which for many of us on MacPros won't be possible. I am so sick and tired of Apple. My Macs used to be tools for me. Now, it feels like I am a tool for it.
Does anyone have the similar problem of Coverflow not working for image-type files in the Finder? Only shows generic icons for .jpg, .png, etc. Text files show, Office files show, but the one thing Coverflow was designed for, does not.
Coverflow works for me in the Finder. Does QuickLook work for you? I am wondering if the problem is related.
Also, if you do Command-J to Show View Options, do you have "Show Icon Preview" checked?
