I updated 2 computers to El Capitan and now there is no option for cover flow in the save or open dialog boxes. My adobe products were in cover flow mode at first but when I chose list, I noticed there was no button for cover flow any more. It's there in finder only. Anyone else have this issue? Any idea if this was done for a reason?

Removing this from the open-dialog is probably the biggest setback in my career as a graphics designer working with games and projects with hundreds of assets. People suggesting that the preview on the right of the list view is kind of the same are just not right about this. It makes a HUGE deal for for the work flow that graphics designers has been used to.
No, its not possible in Sierra either. I just upgrade my Mac Pro (2015) from Yosemite til Sierra and after a few hours I realised that something was wrong, and that working and finding files from Photoshop etc. was annoying me in a way that I wasn't used to. And then I figured out that it was the cover flow option that was missing.
I have given column view a fair trial. It willl never work like coverflow. Is there some way to widen the columns so that I can see long file names? If not, it doesn't help me. Coverflow was PERFECT. I could see complete file names AND the image - as large as my screen.
Hi I am as frustrated as anyone by the missing cover flow, I think its the case that unless you are a designer you simply don't appreciate how useful the coverflow feature was for us, times change - remember when Apple Macs were used by designers more than anyone else?
Apple don't read these forums per-se, so if you would like to see cover flow again please submit concise feedback to Apple, if enough of us speak they have to listen!

You can widen columns. Place your cursor on the dividing line and drag.
The only thing any of us can do for the return of coverflow is to submit feedback.
Until it comes back, I use Cover Flow from Finder, and drag'n'drop the images/files into my app. Still annoying..
Well. It's August 2017 and still no CoverFlow when opening files in Photoshop.
