Contacts: Entry slow or sluggish

Once I identified the problem and showed them the receipt, it was dealt with in a few minutes. I never saw that other email address until I had taken the phone off my itunes account. And I didn't see the whole email address since it was partly blotted out. But for the record it was l*****@yahoo.com

I don't and didn't have the contacts problem you are struggling with so I'm not sure it's related.

I'll bet my bottom dollar it's the same issue and I'll also bet my last dollar that the yahoo email you had was the same one I've seen over the past 29 months. Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Well...this same problem has been bugging me as well, but I don't use Google contacts so the fix wasn't applicable. I was nosing around in the Contacts app prefs and I stumbled across "Show contact found in Mail" checkbox:

I unchecked it, Quit, relaunched and it is now perfect! I guess Contacts was parsing through all of my email every time I opened it. What a terrible option.

"Contacts Found in Email" is new in El Cap Contacts.app, so won't help me (Yosemite).

Be interesting to see if it helps others ...

My problem is mainly when I try to "edit" one contact. As soon as I press the "edit" I take forever to get access to the fields that I want to changes, on top of that when I move to the next field to change I take again a lot of time.... useless.

I cannot believe that something so simple and useful as "manage contact" is taking so long to get it right. Is not a shame for Apple to have some specific app in their own app store to do something that their own OS suppose to do? like many contact management apps?

It's like Apple saying.... this is my beautiful OS X with all these incredible features BUT if for whatever the reason it doesn't work you can buy third party app in my app store and I also will get money for something that is not working in my OK. Stupid, or actually..... smart! ******* me off to be offered plenty of features that doesn't work properly... Did you try AirDrop? useless 50% of the time, unreliable!!!!

Still, all in all, these problems are inextricably tied together and well-known by Apple. I have to be careful what I say since a previous response (I wrote) was deleted by Apple because I spoke the truth, which Apple does not like. Either you will have to wait until (and if) Apple comes up with a fix for these problems or you will have to jump to the competition.

I also tried this and it fractionally (by the speed of 1-2 blinks) sped up my issue, but not enough to make a significant difference. Unless you have 10's of thousands of emails this shouldn't slow down any search process whatsoever. Consider the speed your hard drive is searched, which can have many gigabytes of data.

Exctly the same issue since last update to OSX El Captain. Using CARDAV Account on an OSX Server... (latest release). And the problem

only appears on the Macs (not on the iphones/ipads), so I assume it's linked to some weird behavior of the OSX Contacts app or an underlying

component in OSX.

Apple please fix this ASAP !

10.11.5 solved the bug.

Which bug as there are several similar mentioned here. 😁

However, I can confirm that 10.11.5 fixed the bug with a local carddav server were you had to adres the server with its '.local' name to avoid the delays. Now any url or IP works again.

As indicated in my post, I referred specifically to the problem mentioned in the original post.
