Canoscan 8800F casualty of ElCapitan

A perfectly good scanner will not work with 10.11 because Canon is to lazy to develop a driver for it. I had worked with 10.10 and so I went back in time machine and found my old driver from 10.10 and added it to the Printer Library folder but didn't work. The reply to my email to Canon was that it was to old to develop a driver. What else might I use to get this thing to work? I don't use it a lot but I hate to get rid of a good machine. Ideas?

I think it just did not communicate with the scanner. It is a while ago, so I don't recall exactly why it did not work. I did test Vuescan and Silverfast Demos with El Cap and that worked fine.

My main tools are PS CS5 and Lightroom 6 and my workflow is just fine on Yosemite right now. They seemed to work fine under El Cap too, but you never know until you use it on a daily basis. And I did not want to have to get the Adobe PS subscription to CC, if something would not work right.

Success in using not one, but two, Canon scanners: 8600f and an all-in-one as well, on El Capitan 10.11.3.

I downloaded 8600f Scanner Driver 12.13.3 (I have the 8600f) and downloaded MP Navigator EX 1.0.8.

I can now use BOTH my scanners, using respectively:

-- Cancan Toolbox 5.0 for my 8600f, which now works as it did on Yosemite. AND

-- Canon IJ Scan Utility 2 for the scanner on my all-in-one Canon MG 7520 scanner/printer, which is a less good scanner but seems clever enough to make multipage pdf's for more than one page scans.

I seem to have my cake and eat it too.🙂 Thank you, Lorenzo!

I'm still not sure what MP Navigator is doing for my setup, if anything at all. I am not able to use it When I try to launch it it says "The scanner driver supported by this software is not installed. Install it and retry". BUT I don't need to use MP Navigator.

Alas, as of today, 5/23/2016, nothing appears to work. A system report does not even show that it is connected to the usb bus. Unfortunately, I had to wipe my disk and reinstall OS X, so nothing Cannon related is there. I tried using an older time machine backup, but no joy. I am hoping that one of the family's laptops have an earlier OS so we can give it a try. The cannon website for the 8800f "sees" what OS is installed on the box, and says nothing is available for download.

It just sounds like a FERENGI Latinum making scheme to me.
