Why don't bit torrent work with El Capitan?

I made the mistake to install El Capitan and then realised that BitTorrent does not work.

The application seems to be open but it does not open nor downloads.

Very disappointed.

Are we going to have any update/solution for this?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

I do agree that P2P sites have legitimate uses, and I apologize for not having mentioned that previously. However, as you pointed out, 95% of the time, if someone is downloading something via BitTorrent or uTorrent or any other similar program, it's not a legitimate use. That's why I said it's not wise to ask us why the software is not working. It would be better to take it to that particular program's help forum, if one exists.

Just my $0.02, for what it's worth.

I read your original response to the poster and I didn't think that it was overly aggressive or demeaning, unlike some of the other posts.

Most of what you say is entirely reasonable.

However, I can't empathise with the level of offence that you have taken. Sure, the OP could have been more careful about his wording and your suggestions for how he might have improved were valid. Nonetheless, I don't think that this carelessness should warrant the level of vitriole that followed from others.

Offence is in the eye of the beholder. I freely acknowledge that I am not the authority on what is and what is not offensive to others. Equally, I am free to assert my own interpretation and I did not find it overly offensive. There is no absolute truth to the matter. I do think that erring on the side of remaining civil rather in these forums is a good general principle. I don't say this to lecture you in particular as my original comment was a more general one. I respect the fact that you are also viewing this from a legal/moral framework. My motivation for posting was to raise awareness about the kind of unnecessary aggression that I see in all kinds of forums - not just about computers. I maintain that my position was a valid one. I hope you understand that I am not attempting to demean you by saying this.

You should never download anything from an aggregate download site. Many times the installers are bundled with adware or malware, and when you install one thing, you install everything. That means, don't link to the following:

  • CNET
  • Download (dot) com
  • MacUpdate
  • Softpedia
  • Softonic

To make a further point, you shouldn't aid people in breaking the law. While there are legitimate uses for torrent clients, the vast, vast majority of people who use them, use them to download copyrighted material. If they're going to do it, they're going to do it, but that doesn't mean people here have to help them.
