The update to 10.11.1 is hanging after about 3/4 of the installation - what can I do???

What everyone here in this discussion should remember Apple does not keep track of these comments. Complaints have to be made directly to Apple. I for one have complained with no feed back. El Capitan is a piece of garbage and this reminds of the problems Microsoft had with Vista.

I shredded an old file 2002 where (it came from I don't know). But voilà, it worked for me this time.

HI Guys to the respond to vatsupreme and the others with that issue. I did it a smiler way and got it to work. here is what i did (now i do not know which step actually did the trick but so far I am booted in 10.11.2 and it works .

so I never was able to update to 10.11.1 but my MacBook Pro 2013 had to go into service (thanks to the 3 warranty they fixed all the hard ware issues and I got it back brand new but as most of the time all files gone but with 10.11.2 installed) before i sent the macbook pro back i cloned my hard drive with carbon Copy cloner to a SSD drive which then i installed in my older MacBook Pro 17 inch. so i would not loose anything and kept working with that computer until my macbook pro came back . When I got the 15inch back from repair i used the migration assistant via thunderbolt to move all my files and again just like before i got stuck at the apple logo and the bar full but nothing happen So i did what i read on one post to let it sit but after about 15 hours i am sure it did not load. All the other suggestions i read in this post did not work for me. Like was not able to get into safe mode etc. I was able to get into recovery mode and actually did that but again it got stuck at the apple screen. So some say it has to do with some bad extensions so i searched for a kext cleaner and i found http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/140647-latest-kext-utility-el-capitan-sup er-speed-edition/page-7#entry2146897 a kext utility which cleans them up at least i hoped. i never was able to download the 2.6.4 version but i found the link to the 2.6.3.a version . I installed that on my working mac and did run it. it repaired my permissions. then i hooked up the non working mac via target mode to my working mac and i copied the two extension folders the one in the HD library and the one of the system library to the not working computer and replaced them. Actually the one extension folder from the HD ( working mac)had 9 extension less then on the non working mac so i merged them. Then i remembered i had Disk Warrior installed and it did save me a few times in the past so i did run the permission and folder cleaning and found some bad things and fixed it. then i did shut the working computer but had to force shout down and restarted the working computer again with the non working computer still in target mode. and it took a while to load but then it loaded right away in the migration assistant i quiet that and then the apple set up screen like i could etc came up and the computer actually booted into the non working mac through target mode. So again i did shut down the computer and again it got stuck on shut down so force shut down again and then i started the non working computer and voila it is back, did a few shut downs and so far so good . so again not sure what step made it work but i think it has to do with permissions and unfortunalty that is not available in El Capitan anymore so which might would helped in recovery mode to repair permissions . so hope that helps someone to get it back
