iOS 9.1 causing app store issues

hello, i have updated my iPhone 6s to IOS 9.1, which claims to fix in issue with app store downloads and game center log in.

strange enough, i started having these issues after the update, i never faced it with IOS 9.0.2. now i'm unable to use the app store for any download, and i can't access game center either. i'm even facing some wifi connectivity issues. so basically, IOS 9.1 gave me the issues that it was supposed to solve 😕

i have tried hard resets and restores, i have lost some valuable data and apps along the way, nothing worked. i'm using iTunes on my macbook to install apps for the time being. but any idea how to fix this ? never in 6 years i faced issues with iPhones. so i guess now apple have broken my virginity.

It seems I may be having the same issue, though I haven't had a chance to restore yet (I'm trying to avoid that).

I've tried rebooting the iPhone (6s), resetting network settings, signing out and then trying to sign back in, which sometimes it will let me sign in, but most times it just doesn't do anything.

App Store says I have no purchases, Apple Music doesn't recognize that I'm on a Family Plan (I'm the creator of the Plan), etc. This is all when it does happen to let me sign back in.

Hi,

If anybody stayed on 9.0.2 (even after the great "server/iCloud reset" of November 2015) and then updated to 9.2, we'd appreciate if you could report back on how things are going.

I'm still on 9.0.2 - was traveling recently and didn't want to take the chance of updating to 9.1 and then things being broken again on my trip.

Now that 9.2 is out, I want to pull the trigger (for me and all my family's devices - all still on 9.0.2), but want confirmation from someone here that 9.0.2 -> 9.2 is working fine.

Thanks.

I've been part of this conversation for a long time and only have positive things to say about iOS 9.2. I was a beta tester and used that to give loads of feedback to Apple's engineers. At one point I had devices on 9.0.2, 9.1, and beta 9.2. Now, everything is up to 9.2 with no reported problems. Although my fingers are crossed, I'm very optimistic the problem is behind us. In the final analysis, it seems nothing was fundamentally wrong with 9.1, but when we first encountered it, there was a glitch in Apple's servers that was incompatible for certain AppleIDs.

I would like to thank so many of the participants of this discussion for ideas, tips, and moral support. I do believe that we were a significant part of the solution. Many of you spent enormous energy putting pressure on Apple at Genius Bars around the globe. Now that Apple Music is stable as well as my car connection, I must admit the platform exceeds expectations and gives me great music suggestions which it calls "For You" that really seem tailored "to me". Also, the iCloud Music Library mixed with iTunes Match has my 8,300 song library with me at all times, and ready to play in mere seconds.

Glad to be back to being an Apple Fan Boy. Cheers all. Enjoy all the festivities this season. Happy Chanukah to all!

I'm very grateful to have found this thread because I thought I had a defective phone. With iOS 9.1, I found I could only download and upgrade some apps but the rest would say "Unable to download app at this time" so I tried downloading them onto my iPad mini with no problem. My iPad mini has iOS 8.3 on it.

I have been in contact with apple twice over this, the last time being yesterday, and we worked on the problem for 2 hours yesterday and 90 minutes 3 days before that. They had me upgrade to iOS 9.2 but the problem remains. The specialist said it could be because I upgraded my software using the phone not my computer but I was just following what the other apple tech had said. He said sometimes upgrading through the phone isn't a complete upgrade.

So we ended up connecting the phone to my computer and using iTunes to download the apps and then add them to my phone.

But it's still bewildering to me that some applications could upgrade and download and some couldn't.

Thanks for listening. 🙂

I am glad the issue was resolved for a few. Today, I had this "cannot connect to app store" issue on my wife cell phone and I searched the forums and etc but couldn't find a solution that helps to resolve my issue. Then I started thinking what changed since last two or three days since I upgraded OS to 9.2 a while ago. Finally figured the synch up, and other devices sharing same apple id. First thing I did was I turned off the devices whatever were this iPhone was synched up with up. But that didn't resolve, finally I noticed iPad mini2 was sharing same apple id as this iPhone was using so I turned iPad off and "BINGO". Everything started working on this iPhone after a minute.

My friend had same issue that he asked earlier thought I could help but couldn't due to busy with the work but now our phone impacted so my wife wanted fitbit charge configured right away and that's when I we noticed this issue. Called my friend and explained this temporary fix, he tried and it worked for him as well.

I thought I would share so at least this can help one of them like us. I am sure, this may not be right resolution for the most but maybe works this temp fix for few people here and there until Apple comes back with a permanent fix. Good luck 😎.

This is an update. Yesterday while on the phone with apple, I restored my iPhone as a new phone to see if all my problems would be resolved. The apple representative then asked me when done to go download CNN again and I had the same problem so this must not be related to my software. Then I was able to download some other apps so I can download and upgrade some apps and not others using my wifi. If I use cellular, I can download anything and I can also download anything if I use iTunes. This is still a mystery.

Hi Martha,

What I am trying to say is if you have multiple apple products using same apple id then try one of the following..

1. turn/switch off all apple devices except your iPhone

2. create a new apple id and replace your existing apple id with the new apple id on all your devies except on your iPhone. Once replaced then restart all your devices except your iPhone since your iPhone will still have your original apple id

3. BTW, turn off your Cloud/wifi synch up feature.

Then you try to update your apps on your iPhone and all of them would work.

Again, this solution might not work for all of them but it at least worked for almost 3-4 of my friends when I tried.

So bottom line is Apple has to fix their software as it is something to do with an account (apple id) is being used on multiple devices.

this is a temporary fix only to be able to update the apps.

There's nothing to fix. If one person with one Apple ID has multiple devices, it is most certainly desirable if that person can access his/her emails on all devices. The software is working as intended. The only requirement is that users use it properly.

Thank you for explaining, Kevnss.

But I don't think mine is an ID problem because most updates and apps I can download but so far I have found 3 that I cannot. One is CNN, that along with 2 others will now completely download, but others will download fine and other apps will update fine. My tape recorder app would not update, though. It's just so odd. So to download the ones I can't download, I hook up my phone to iTunes and use that.

I Hate to say it but the initial problems raised in this thread last year started happening to me again over the past few days, and only a hard reboot seems to correct temporarily.

Apple Music stops streaming

cannot download or update apps

previous purchases disappear

im trying to figure out if this only does it on wifi or cellular, or if a reset network settings will fix it. Too early to tell.
