Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

I foolishly updated both iPhone 6 and iPad Mini with the new iOS 9.1 on the day of release, and spent all day yesterday trying to make Apple Music work. around 11pm, it finally worked on my iPad after login/signing on and off for a few hours, today it shows everything fine, but don't play anything. After communicating with Apple Music Help on Twitter I decided to re-install it all on the iPhone 6, hours of the signing on and off frozen, Apple Music on the phone shows For You, New and Connect OK, but won't play, Radio doesn't load at all and My Music is empty, not linking to my Music Match on ICloud. Now (Saturday 16:26), I can only listen to my music and Beats 1 from my main MacBook Pro... I definitely think this iOS 9.1 is a massive mistake. I am trying to reset my iPhone from scratch as I type this, backing it up from the Cloud from 3 days ago, but I launched this 1 hour ago and it still does nothing.... Not very convenient to do the Beats Run tomorrow if I need to png in my laptop in a rucksack as no small device is usable.

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Hello guys and girls...

First of all a BIG shout out and thumbs up to the guys at Apple Music Help on Twitter, and Apple Support in general, although the issue is not fixed yet, they are so nice, patient, and really listen. I wish all customer services worldwide would be the same!

Back to the subject: Yesterday I spent a couple of hours with a lovely guy, IOS support in the USA, they have now the thread to this discussion and look at all our comments. The IOS guy said that it might take a bit of time to fix, but finally they are aware of the growing number of people having the issue. Fingers crossed...

In reply to djpltn: if your brother's ID works on your devices, wouldn't it be an idea to change our Apple Id across the board?...

I'm having the same issue. Martinsburg, WV. Started last Tues evening (10/27) after I downloaded & installed 9.1 the previous Fri (the day it came out I believe). I have an iPhone 6 and iPad 2. Was on the phone with Apple Support for about 2 hours and seemed to fix the iPad 2 (though it's back to the same again). My issue is that I can't listen to Apple Music, I can't download or update apps, and I can't purchase songs on iTunes. It definitely feels like an Apple ID issue/bug as I have iTunes on my Dell laptop and am able to download Apps on it. Very frustrating and disappointing. I usually don't update so quick, but they released the new emojis and that sucked me in. Hope this issue makes enough noise for a fix. If not I may consider going Android because this is ridiculous. I'm using the free trial for Apple Music (and was contemplating keeping it after). Planning on calling back to Apple Support this evening after work and giving them my case # from last week and having them escalate the issue up so they can see this isn't just some random thing. I've also had my apps download and Apple Music work sporadically, but only for a few minutes here and there. Usually after my phone is turned off then back on. So doesnt fully fix the issue...basically just teasing me lol.

Most excellent suggestion, MethozS402! The DFU firmware restore you came up with worked like a charm. Listening to Apple Music as I type. And I downloaded an app. There was an informative article on DFU I found by Googling "DFU osxdaily". It was from 2010, but the explanation helped me understand what I was about to do. A few caveats: (1) I needed to give my AppleID in several places (went to Settings > iCloud and clicked on my profile, same needed on iTunes and App Store and Home Sharing on the Setting > Music page), (2) I needed to turn my iPhone on and off before things got working well, and (3) because I haven't set up my backup as encrypted, I lost all my Health info and ApplePay cards (I knew this would happen but the phone was so messed up, I didn't want to risk encryption). Well … I've got a day of getting all my iPads set up this way. Thanks. If anything changes, I'll alert the group. But, so far, it looks like a solution!

Wait … After an hour of enjoyment, my iPhone's 9.1 problems all came back! So much for all that work. This is a very sly bug. It all fell apart when I tried to open Pandora and it froze. This was the same thing that happened around the first time I found the bug. Could Pandora be a menace? Or else, the problem just arises after a while. Anyway … it's up to Apple to figure this one out. I've signed out of the stores again. That's my best fix.

I tried creating a new Apple ID and it works fine. The only problem being that of course none of your content is linked to this new account.

iOS support got access to my account and tried logging in on devices their end in both iOS 9.1 and iOS 9.0.2. I wasn't told the outcome, but because the issue has been further escalated I'm assuming that the problem was indeed the iOS 9.1 upgrade.

Yes agreed!: Apple allowing back the downgrade to iOS 9.0.2 would be their best move until a new upgrade is done. I am enjoying that little iPod Touch I got on Saturday at the store, which still runs under iOS 9.0.2, but I want to return it before the 14 days return policy expires, I have enough devices as it is I don't NEED and IPod Touch as long as my iPhone and iPad are fixed...

I created a new Apple ID for temporary use while this issue has not yet been resolved. Been using it for more than 24hours and not having problems up to this moment yet. Downloaded only apps for everyday use as most of them are free. No problem on the saved settings as I used my backup to restore. I also got a new free trial of Apple Music which end on January 31. This makes me truly believe that this an apple id related issue. Will just go back on using my true apple id when all these are fixed to get my purchases again.
