Pictures are not showing up in Messages on Macbook Pro

Hi,

Lately I noticed that my text and picture messages aren't synching up to iMessage on my MBP.

For example, I sent a photo before the "I need to find this costume lol" text message and it doesn't show up.

Help?

I made the same post before, but accidentally clicked that a reply from another user solved my issue. Just as an update: I reset my network settings, I sign out of my apple account, I toggled with the iMessage button, I restarted both my MBP and iPhone 6.

Ok,

But doing it that way also leaves behind anything in your Users Folder that was corrupt that was effecting this.

As a matter of interest do you have any plugin or third party apps for the Messages App, the FaceTime app or the Contacts App ?

The matter is only of interest as you have reinstalled.

Hi Ralph,

So I ended up calling Apple, and they helped me set up a test user and it was the same. I cannot received photo/video messages sent from other users. I could only see the photos or videos on my phone. I am able to received screen shot from other users and send screen shots from my MBP to other user. Apple deemed it a phone issue, not a MBP one.

I don't think it's a phone issue. They made rest my settings, and when that didn't work, erase all content and settings. It still does not work and I was told that if that didn't work, I would have to restore the phone from iTunes, but still haven't received a call back from the Apple technicians.

What are your thoughts? I don't know what else to do.

Hey Ralph,

Thanks again for taking the time to help me. I did what you told me to do and I reinstalled my OS on my Mac using the first method of the link you provided me, "Reinstall OS X from Recovery". Unfortunately, it did not resolved the issue. I had a friend send a me a picture message after I set up the account and nothing.

I spoke with Apple support again, and they agreed that it was not a phone issue, but something with the MBP itself.

Hi Ralph,

When I first called Apple, they made me do two things. One, I can't remember, and the second, is the CMD + ALT + P + R, it didn't seem to work. I'm currently downloading the El Capitan OS, I still haven't install it yet. I haven't tried in Safe Mode yet, should I?

I'm suppose to call Apple back after I install El Capitan, is there a way to download El Capitan, not install it, and try the message app in Safe mode?

Thanks

Hi Ralph,

All the fonts you mention are validated and I do not have Helvetica Fractions.

I did run the Malwarebytes, Cleaner, and MacScaner to see if I had adware or spyware. Turns out I had some adware and it deleted it but I still have the issue. Mac runner detected two tracking cookies, deleted, same results.

I've rebooted several times, does not fix the issue.

Thank you,

Michael

Try this:

1. Quit message app on your Mac

2. Open Finder

3. Click on "Go" on the top toolbar

4. Hold down the option key and "library" will pop up in your "Go" drop down menu

5. Click on the Library Folder

6. Open Messages Folder

7. Find the "Attachments" folder. This is where all your images from texting are stored. You may want to go through these if you want to retrieve and save any old images from prior messages. Save any images you want to keep to another folder.

8. Delete the "Attachments" Folder - Please note, that this will delete all prior text images you have on your Mac that have been sent to you or which you have sent. So, as mentioned in step 7, make sure you save any and all images you want to keep before doing step 8.

9. Create a new Attachments File for your future text images to be stored in.

Now do a practice test text sending an attachment. It should now start showing attachments moving forward even though it does not show past ones.
