Microphone not working with some apps after updating to iOS 9.1

fixed my issue! blew out the mic with compressed air

I am having the same problem from yesterday, my one is I-phone 6 - 64 GB everything stated above is same, i spent several hours to find the solutions to fix it. But like everyone else i haven't got any ideas 😟

Same problem here. Not sure when it started, I'm not a huge phone call guy. But within the last month or so I've noticed it.

When people call, they either can't hear me or just barely. Tried outgoing as well. Perfectly fine if I try and make a voice note.

Speaker phone works fine.

iPhone 6 + if that's relevant.

I got the replacement offer and also the apple advisor told me it's the hardware issue . it could be the over charging. I am getting my new iPhone within couple of days.

I'm having the same issue with recording video with no audio only after 2/13/16 it's random some front facing some rear-nothing different just a random thing minutes apart

I have no clue as to why your suggestion of cleaning out the earpiece microphone with compressed air worked but it did! Fantastic, my iPhone feels as new again! Thank you so much for finding this out and sharing it!

All 3 mins work on my iPhone 6 updated to 9.3 but no caller can hear me unless I am on speaker phone or have earbuds in.

This is definitely a s software issue..... Had no problems before.

bought iphone 6. same issue. mic does not work with fb messenger in louads peaker mode. come on apple. getting disappointed by this product.

Exact same problem. Phone app works, Voice memos work, but Siri, Voice To Text, and all other apps don't work. It does work with a plugged in mic.

Tried restoring, and that didn't help.

Not sure what to do...

I may have figured it out. Go to settings -> cellular -> cellular data options -> turn Enable LTE from 'voice and data' to 'data only'. Worked for me!

Wow! +1. I tried everything. The Apple Store couldn't help either, but this fixed the problem!

Now I have to figure out what LTE for 'data only' will do to voice coverage and calls

Here's a quick update on my issue from the previous page. After blowing air into the front camera mic, Siri & other stuff connected to that mic worked fine for a while, but then signal just started dropping rapidly to the point where it was the same as before. So last week i snagged a replacement front cam & mic flex assembly off eBay (5€) and replaced it. Everything works like a charm now.
