YYou CANNOT store movies directly in the ATV. You can only access your library on a Mac/PC with iTunes running. You just need to enable home sharing on the iTunes computer and on the ATV and make sure both are connected to the same WIFI network. Then you will be able to view your shared library but you cannot store video files directly on the ATV. The storage that the ATV has is ONLY for the apps you purchase through the ATV App Store. You cannot even store cideos you purchase through iTunes, you can only stream them through the movies/tv show apps.

So you keep saying—but I have yet to see you cite the source for your "facts." The phrase "if it is even possible" implies that I am willing to agree with you but I make it a point not to believe everything I read here just because someone says it is so. As more and more information comes to light it seems more and more reasonable that what you say is true but it would still be nice for some competent authority to confirm this at some point.

That answer dates from September 2014. It doesn't necessarily apply to the Apple TV 4.

The article in your next post that IS relevant is this one:

It applies to all Apple TVs that were sold after that date. Apple has been cloud focused for years - removeing of the disc drivers from MacBook, reducing the USB connections. they have been very open about this plan for years. But I don't want to argue about something nontechnical and irrelevant...

While the meaning of your "non-arguments" are quite clear, the language of the articles to which your refer is imprecise—just like the topic of this discussion. The TV4 does have internal storage, it is not in the form of a hard drive but applications and data is/are stored/cached to it during normal operation, and I have already stored and deleted almost 30 MBs of non-cached, non-video content in preliminary tests today. What these articles should be saying is that there is currently no general storage space allocated to users for the non-temporary storage of documents by the tvOS. This does not, however, mean that an app like VLC could not be written for the TV4 which allocates non-temporary space for stored, as well as, streaming media space as has already been for other mobile devices. A bigger question at this point would be whether or not Apple would allow this.
