OS X El Capitan: Parental Controls NOT working

Using a managed account, and selecting "only allow these websites", when managed/ or Admin user logs out and then back in and parental controls are opened by ADMIN account, "try to limit access to adult websites" is selected. MBP restarted, ADMIN goes back into managed account and selects only allow...and same thing happens....also if I enter specific websites that are NOT to be accessed at all under "Custom" these websites disappear next logging from ADMIN or Managed account.....Parental Controls worked fine with Yosemite....Can anyone help?

I was not so fortunate. I purchased 2 macbook airs, both did same. my son was going away for summer and i wanted to have p controls in effect. i began in january. literally over 100+ hours with apple support, engineering, etc. never functional. third party software ineffective as well. after all that had to do clean installs on all machines. went to apple store for help on back to mac after that. began talking about p controls and was not taken seriously. they attempted to set it up, same thing. they then got their own machine to "see for themselves"- SAME THINGS!!! I wonder if the update works.....

I just spent 4-5 frustrating hours with it. It was like playing the blame game. But alas, I screen recorded everything and it is crystal clear that this feature is broken and they obviously can't fix it.

First the settings wouldn't take. Then my admin software wouldn't work. Then the switch needed a reset. Then the cable modem started getting packet loss. I had to switch to another internet connection to finally confirm what we really expected anyway. 3/10 macs that I administrate successfully have working parental controls after a reboot. However it took 4 hours to get that to work, so no, it doesn't seem to be working at all. Before there was no chance of it working, now, if you beat your head on a desk and record everything you do, you can play a chess game with it. You literally have to prove every thing else you're doing works and it will "give up" and kind of maybe work.

Seriously.

I'd love to know whose idea it was to make the app selection screen for app restriction the size of a dime.

And how about a "never ask again" if you restrict an app and it keeps popping up because it's a service.

You're telling me there's millions of people and thousands of schools using this software and I'm the one that has to bring this up?

What is this crap, for real.

I have just installed 10.11.6 ... and my parental controls usecases now work! I am able to "Try to limit access to adult websites" on my daughter's computer, as well as allow/deny access to websites.

I have spent roughly 4 hours with Apple customer support on this issue. Throughout the whole process they continually told me that parental controls were working fine and that there was something wrong with my computer. Now, I just read the El Capitan 10.11.6 release notes:

Resolves an issue that may prevent settings from being saved in accounts with parental controls enabled.

Which means that customer support didn't have a clue or they were being deceitful.
