Cannot share HomeKit controls

i have the new HomeKit enabled Phillips Hue system. Siri voice control works great on my device and Apple Watch. I set up the system. I've followed the apple instructions and invited my husband to share via iCloud. It shows up successfully in Homekit on his end and it shows I'm sharing with him on my end. However, Siri can't find any devices to control. I ask her to set scene but she can't find devices.

WHat hat the heck are we doing wrong???

IF YOU USE Phillips HUE, then that is likely the issue.

If you use Philips Hue, then send the invite from within the Hue app.

Go to Philips Hue app

- Settings

- Homekit & Siri

- Advanced

- Homes (maybe the name is different but it's the first one of the 2 options)

- select "my house" and click on Share Home and invite from here.

The invite is sent to whoever you wish. When they click on it Homekit opens (not Philips Hue) and after they approve, everything is will work on their phone.

Hope this helps!

I also had this issue up until 2nights ago. I read that it was an OS system problem so I updated all my devices to the latest iOS and tvOS. After the updates i was able to once again send an invite to my wife and grandson (who lives with us). All is well again.

Note: We were able to send and accept the invites to both my wife’s and grandson‘s phone, but we had to re-start both of their phones before the devices would respond and were able to be controlled on their phones.

You made it farther than I have. I send out a share, but it never appears anywhere on my wife devices. Where do you see it when you say "it successfully shows up in HomeKit?" I have never found a home kit app. I see a home kit in settings, but that doesn't even show up on my wife's devices. I thought maybe it came by email, but I don't see anything there either.

Did he download the same apps that you have? but my Schlage lock will not work with any home kit commands. And when I say goodnight it makes it two words and doesn't understand.... ........my sons phone is under my family share.....I set him up with the apps and when I try to pair with the hub it says that someone already has the home kit configured and needs to share their settings. Logging into iCloud next...

I have HK working on guest phones now.

I removed all the invited people that were not working and re-invited them. Siri is now able to control from their devices. Hopefully I get a chance to test when I'm at work so I can see if the remote control works off network and away from bluetooth. FYI your bluetooth icon will 'pulse" when its contacting a lock or bluetooth accessory.

So the key for me, when sending HomeKit invites for Siri Voice Control from the Hue App, using the new Hue Bridge 2.0, was to be sure to use the actual primary Apple ID account email of the device that the recipient uses to login to the iCloud account. You can't use any other associated iCloud email addresses you must use the primary iCloud email of the invitee.

I had the same problem with our Hue / Homekit installation. The solution that worked for me is this: Make a working installation on one device (in my case a iPhone6 and set it all up including enabling siri voice commands in the Hue app). Next, in installation>homekit on this 'master' device, sent an invite to the other user on his @icloud.com address, this one is important, do not use the @me.com address. For some reason it only works with the @icloud.com address. Then the other user is also able to execute siri voice commands to the Hue. Works flawlessly.

Success.

I had a similar problem.

I was setting up my HomeKit for the first time. Everything was running smooth until I tried to add my wife to created home. I kept getting an error that said: "Invitation Failed - Could not invite "username@icloud.com" because the email address is not registered with iCloud."

I knew for fact that it was. So I did a google search to find an answer.

I tried a few but they didn't seem to work.

Tried restarting the phones.

tried adding other people which seemed to work just fine but I couldn't add my wife.

Apple phone support had me log out of her iCloud account and back in but it didn't help.

What finally did help for me was this.

I went into my wife's iPhone and sent an invitation to my iPhone. That worked without a problem. Then I sent her an invitation again from my iPhone and it registered and it has been working perfect since that point.

So I'm not sure if that was the solution or just a clitch. But if you are having troubles with this maybe give that a try.

Cheers!
