car bluetooth problems with iOS 9 update

Since doing iOS 9 update my iPhone 5 won't reliably work in my car (mercedes benz clk with bluetooth adaptor)

previously under iOS 8 it worked perfectly pairing automatically when in car, and diverting calls to car system both incoming and outgoing all worked flawlessly even

siri would work through dashboard microphone

now it is total chaos

some times it works immediately, some times it refuses to work at all

most times it is unpredictable and often requires toggling blue tooth on and off on both phone and dashboard until ringtones heard through dashboard speaker system

what works in the morning won't reliably work in the afternoon

if tried reset phone

forget this device

repairing

not sure what else i can try

wish i could down grade back to iOS 8

The iOS Update 9.1 has solved this issue of Bluetooth pairing in my '15 MB GLA45. All previous-to-updating-to-iOS9 functions have been restored.

I am also having the same issue with my new 6s plus which I got for Christmas. Before this phone I had a droid that was several years old and it worked perfectly paired to the Intellilink system in our '15 Acadia. The phone had 9.1 when I got it and it just upgraded to 9.2 a few days ago but the problem persists where apps being opened or browsed - such as messaging or facebook, will cause the radio to start playing my music from the phone where I was previously listening to FM or XM.

I am new to the apple forums so I need to ask if the green conversation bubble with the check mark in it indicates that this topic is considered solved by the moderator(s)? Besides following this feed, should I open a case with apple so that it is properly tracked and perhaps puts a little pressure on them to resolve it?

Thanks

I have the exact same issue with my 2015 GMC Sierra. After completing a call, 'NO ARTIST' shows up on my navigation screen. I have to manually turn my radio back on, which disengages my navigation. Then, I have to restart my navigation screen. Also, if the truck connects to my wife's phone, when she is on Facebook, it will try to play audio from her app, which causes the same crap to happen. VERY FRUSTRATING. I asked everyone on the SilveradoSierra discussion page if similar problems existed. The site blew up with responses, the same problems I've mentioned. Android phones have NO ISSUE. This is the first time I've been extremely aggravated at Apple products. I hope any new iOS updates will fix the problem.

I too began to experience the issues posted here. 2015 Regal with iphone 6 after 9.2 update. After making or receiving phone call Buick Intellilink will not revert back to station/source I was on. And if I open anything on my phone, it switches to iphone source.

Continues this way I will have no choice but to use android phone which connects fine.

I'm having the same issue with my 2015 Silverado where it swaps the input on the radio when the phone is unlocked and opens any app that might have sound. My radio also starts playing my music stored on my phone at random times too. I have looked in my phone settings and in my radio settings and can't seem to find a fix.

I had an iPhone 5s with iOS 9.2 that had the issue. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 6s+ with iOS 9.2 and it is having the same issue.

Any ideas Apple?

CloPec,

so over the weekend I turned Siri off and tested the functionality of the vehicle and the iOS 9.3 and it seemed as is all issues instantly disappeared. As soon as I turned siri back on they came back. So it seems that the issue is with Siri, I'm thinking it's turning everything off so that it can wait and listen for your next command via "Hey Siri". I will submit another feedback request with the updated info. Thanks for the help!

2011 Volkswagon Tiguan also has extreme problems with conductivity. I have to turn off bluetooth and turn it back on for the car to recognize the phone. Siri was disabled at the time.

I spoke with the dealer who researched the issue and found that only 2016 Volkswagons were compatible. This prompted a call to Apple Tech Support. 1 hour 51 minutes later, the advisor indicated that the phone technology superceeded the vehicle's and no resolution was found. Volkswagon stated that they have no idea if there will be a software update.

The problem is undoubtedly on Apple's end, as this occurs on my Jeep UConnect and Ford Sync systems as well. Both worked fine prior to the 9.X update, and my work Android phone still works with no issues. Ever since upgrading my iPhone 6 to 9.1 (and now 9.2.1), the phone will disconnect from the vehicle as soon as the "callee" picks up the phone on their end. I can always reconnect using the phone, but the point of hands-free is to eliminate this distraction.

Apple needs to fix this potentially serious safety issue, as it directly impacts the ability to use their phone in states where hands-free is law.

I have had similar problems with my 2015 GMC since iOS 9. My iphone 6 connects fine and takes calls but won't go back to the previous state of radio play after the call is ended. I have to manually switch back to the radio or it will begin to play music from my phone, didn't do that with iOS 8. It also flips out if I open Facebook and connects like it's trying to play music through the radio! Again none of this happened before iOS 9.

I totally agree! I did the forget device on both the phone and the car. Volkswagon still will not connect once the car has been shut off. It looks for the phone but no phone found comes up. In the state I live in, hands free is the law. Same thing every time. I'm forced to shut off Bluetooth on iPhone, turn it back on and then have the car reconnect to the phone.
