I put the device to sleep either by press and hold the Home button or going to Settings and selecting sleep. It sleeps for a minute or so but then it wakes up on its own and turns the TV on as well. Curiously enough it only happens to one of my TV's (Sony Bravia bought 2009) but not with the other (Samsung Plasma TV bought 2013). Any ideas?

Bummer! Definitely sounds like the use of the harmony remote is contributing to the issue. Good luck!
I had the same problem, but since I started to change the input channel on my Sony TV to another HDMI (for my digital TV box) after setting the Apple Tv to sleep it never happens again.
If you simply hold the "Play/Pause" button on your remote for 5-10 Seconds then the Apple TV will go to sleep permanently until you do the same process again.

FWIW, I have a Harmony remote as well. Maybe this device is the culprit?
Except I think the testing that I did pretty much eliminates the Harmony Remote. IAC, others who don't have the Harmony are having problems.

I've tried all of the suggestions and none of them work. Also, holding down the pause play button does nothing. I have two ATV4's and only one of them does this.
