Word and Excel documents I try to open do not open or save

Cannot open many word or excel documents I receive by email. If they do open, I cannot save to hard disk. Message says hard disk is full. Checking hard disk there is plenty of space on it. What can I do?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

What version of MS Office are you using?

Just checking, did you ever try saving you attachments to your Documents folder and opening them from there? That fixes the problem for most people.

Hello,

Yes I have tried that and it seems to make no difference.

I need to un-install and reinstall. However, this mac was bought off a local reseller a few years ago. He installed the programs, I have no software and as I have no contact with him now I am looking for someone local who can do a similar service.
