Apple TV 4 - Home Sharing Slideshows - Scratching my head...

Agreed, yesterday's update has fixed the slideshow madness. Well at least slides now play again in order. What's still missing is the ability to start a slideshow from the currently selected/displayed slide (possible on any other platform ever sold by Apple).

The update hasn't fixed anything. My screensaver will only show the same handful of pictures and just repeat.

If I manually browse to my pictures and start a slide show, it lasts for maybe 10 seconds and just stops.

The slide show on the first apple tv was so amazing and it has just slowly gotten worse and worse.

Ive not tried the screensaver but I've tried the slideshow strangely enough by switching repeat off brings up a ver short slideshow but switching repeat on works very well

I haven't tried the screensaver either, just the slideshow. I did try it with the Ken Burns on 2 seconds per slide. I haven't gone through other parameters to try them yet.

I will give it a try this evening or this weekend though.

Hello to all. I'm mainly interested in slideshow and I bought a few days ATV4, I have the product being tested and there is still time to change it or take a ATV3 made with full refund. There can be no third-party software to do slideshow? I have to bring back the ATV4 and purchase the ATV3? I'm really shocked, I give me some advice?

I'm with you all. I think this (and other similar, obvious "oversights") are inexplicable, and unacceptable. And, strangest of all, Apple has done all the hard work of designing this product (fine, capable-enough hardware) and a hardly-trivial online services platform... and then completely abandoned their post on the should-be-easy software stuff that could actually makes their products and services work in a useful, necessary way.

Why are you tagging rants on the end of old threads, if you have a question ask it in your own thread.

I am running on TVos 9.2.2 and still can't pause and then continuing playing my slide show from the point where I paused. This is really unacceptable and I am surprised that it han't been corrected yet! 😠

You've summarized the problem perfectly - have you found any resolution since you posted this a year ago? I've been keeping track with software updates, but this problem remains. And I'm with you in that I want the photo sharing via Home Sharing and not via iCloud. Cheers!

tv10 is out, 10.0.1 as well. Slideshows keep working but starting a slideshow from the currently selected image is still not possible. Or is this just my Apple TV?

I've been using Apple TV 3 for a long time and love it. When I heard about the 4 I was excited. Then finally last week I coughed up 200 and got the 64gb version. Tell you the truth, I am so disappointed that they have taken options like choosing music to play with a slide show. Yea there are work around but what the heck, I didn't spend that kind of money for work arounds. 😠😠😠 This is one of my main reason for having this. Creating photo albums for different occasions and choosing the music for the specific occasion. Yes again, I know you can choose music the go and play a slideshow, but how backwards is that?

This is the first time I ever bought a new Apple product and sorry I did.

You buy new stuff for faster and better options. So far I can't justify one penny spent for this.

ITs this his kind of thing that made me switch from Microsoft to Apple In 2007.

I'll tell tell you this. From now on I'm not just going to blindly buy a product just because it's from Apple.

Guess this is why for the first time ever I didn't run out to get new iphone 7.

I don't know what Apple was thinking as we are going backwards and this slideshow issue is not acceptable!

I have an ATV1 which did a great job of slideshows (with music). And I completely agree that Apple should be embarrassed by the current ATV4 functionality of slideshows. It's really a disgraceful bit of code.

But, I'm actually OK with the idea of my new ATV4 being a platform for 3rd parties building even better apps for slideshows. I looked on the ATV store and didn't see an obvious replacement for the original (and great) ATV Slideshows. Has anyone found one that improves (or at least replaces) what was a great feature of ATV1?

It would be nice to see someone from Apple actually acknowledge this issue and actually work on a fix!
