Missing radio app on Apple TV 4?

Hi all,

I just bought a brand new Apple TV 4 and I'm missing this internet radio app

User uploaded file

Has it been removed from the Apple TV? There are a lot of radio stations I really love and would miss them.

Can someone please give me a hint?

Thanks.

It is a shame that Internet Radio was removed from ATV4. I wanted to share a solution I've found that works well for me. I am using the StreamStation app (StreamStation on the App Store), which I have installed on all my IOS/ATV devices. It lets you specify any publicly available audio stream by entering the url.

The nicest thing is this app uses iCloud to sync between devices. For me, the easiest thing to do was use iTunes on my Mac to discover streams I like. Then I copied the url text for each stream into the StreamStation app on my iPhone. I also grabbed graphics for these stations from the Web. The app lets you add a graphic for each saved stream. After setting up my favorite streams on iPhone, they are available automatically on StreamStation running on the ATV.

The StreamStation app includes native support for Shoutcast, so you can use that to search for streams. But I found that none of my favorite stations are listed on Shoutcast. Fortunately, you can manually enter url's, and from Internet Radio inside iTunes or other sources I was able to find url's for all the things I like to listen to.

I have a different issue. You have to pay to use Apple Music, so if all I want to do is hear free broadcast radio, especially AM, through my Apple TV, I don't eat to have to pay a subscription fee. I will say that the Podcasts app is great, although for the life of me, I can't figure out why it shows a different set of podcasts than my iPhone does, which in terms only shows a subset of my the podcasts I get on my Mac through iTunes.

I just tried. I wanted to add a station which it didnt have, pasted in the URL of its stream, and all I got was a spinning gear. I tried chat to tell them, but it replied that no one was there, just leave the message, so I did. The assortment of stations it has built in or when I searched by category or even location didn't help. Oh well, we shall see. Thanks.

Hi Larry, thanks for checking it out.

I looked into this station and had to do some digging to find the actual audio stream, but I found it! If you open up the web interface and select "I have details about a station I'd like to add", select option 2. There paste in this url: http://54.226.208.80/entercom-wrkoamaac-64?session-id=5a0f545c25447ecac85d4a2a45 ab5c3d-64316467736769396164716276367362&user-id=5a0f545c25447ecac85d4a2a45ab5c3d

I hope that works for you!

I would tend to agree; there is a massive variety of stations from around the world.

The only snag is that when the screensaver starts, the audio ceases; pressing 'MENU' on the ATV remote to exit the screensaver allows the audio to recommence. I have raised queries on two occasions with 'mytuner.mobi' and have received acknowledgements but no signs of a solution.

Has anyone else come across this phenomenon?
