Pages autocorrects with wrong spelling

I've been noticing lately that when I write in Pages (version 5.5), oftentimes I will spell a word correctly, but after I hit the spacebar and move on to the next word, Pages will change the spelling of my correctly-spelled word to something totally incorrect that I didn't type. Sometimes it will repeat the last letter of the word, other times it just adds random letters to the middle of the word. Is there a way to stop this?

Also, when I want to use a word that isn't in the Apple dictionary, Pages will suggest a correction, which I decline, which Pages then changes my word to. Every time I go back and spell the word the way I want to, it keeps changing the word back to the one it suggested as soon as I hit the space bar. Is there an easier way to get it to accept my declining its suggestion than adding every word to the dictionary? (I'm a nursing student and there is a lot of medical terminology Pages doesn't recognize)

Hi Joe,

I have the same problem and this answer does not solve it.

When I type a word, Pages often begins selecting it as I type and suggesting corrections. When I have finished the word all spelt correctly, Pages will only have half of the word selected and then correct just that half into another word, so often you get corrections like "satisfyingfying".

It happens more often than I make a typo so it's something I would like a remedy to!

I have this problem and it is December of 2016. Like kojiro__ wrote in May, Pages will place ridiculous non-words into my document as a 'correction' to my word.

Any actual solutions out there? Turning global options on and off for one program's default errors is not a solution, it's a temporary work-around until a solution is created by the pages team.

Hi Co2r,

To get this message to Apple, and to the Pages developers, use the Provide Pages Feedback menu item in the Pages menu in Pages.

Here, you're alking to users of the software, who can provide you with solutions (or work arounds) that apply to the software as it exists today.

Regards,

Barry
