Error 404 when downloading an app in iTunes

Hi everyone !

I've got an issue with iTunes, especially the App Store.

I downloaded the app "Lonely One" on the App Store on my iPhone, it downloaded automatically on my iPad but when opening iTunes, it says that it can't find the app ("error = 404") and I can't remove it from my downloads list. Here's the window that pops up when download fails :

User uploaded file

Litterally : "A problem occurred when downloading Lonely One. The URL address ... can't be found on the server".

However, it continues to update to the newest versions on my iOS devices right when they're released.

Is there a way to make it find the app somewhere (online, on my devices, ...) or to kickstart the download by stopping it and re-start it so that iTunes stops bothering me ? ^^

Thanks in advance for your answers ! 🙂

Sincerely,

Charles

There have been a few similar posts about the 404 error (e.g. iTunes Keeps Trying to Download iPhone App That's Not On the Server), and I've had it on a couple of apps - one worked the following day, the other three or four days later.

You can delete the errored download by clicking on the exclamation mark next to the search box at the top right of iTunes (e.g. the second image in the above linked post) - select/highlight the app on there and press the delete button on your keyboard, and you can then retry the download (it may take a few days before it's fixed and the download works, so you may need to do the delete and retry a few times).

Of, and if your device is not on iOS 9+, you should be able to copy the update back from it via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
