ipad pro split keyboard?
I'm using the new ipad pro and i don"t see how to "split" the virtual keyboard. this makes typing very difficult.
Right now it is beyond uncomfortable. It is impossible to hold and type at the same time!

Forget using the ipad pro on the train, on the couch or in the bed like it was intended to. It's got to be laying flat on the table to type comfortably, but then I have my laptop for that??
I hold my iPad in landscape orientation and type with my thumbs, which has worked great since day 1. But after three days with iPad Pro I am thoroughly frustrated. Even after enabling Zoom mode and trying the split keyboard it is waaaaay too small. This is soooooo disappointing, especially for an iPad lifer like me. I spend hours every day doing email, posting on forums, writing notes, etc., and nearly everything requires typing, which is soooo painful on this big beautiful superfast tablet.
Ugh! Such a major usability problem for this device!!!
I want everything smaller! Although it lets you split the keyboard... It's really not a good fix.
For me at least, the medium-sized split keyb I saw in zoomed mode was OK, but i didn't like how everything else looked In that mode. Then again, I have pretty big hands, so having a little more distance between the keys isn bad, again for me at least.
No, it is fine. you know? When WWDC 2016, Apple is going to reinvent the virtual keyboard by allowing it to be split in iPad Pro without zoom mode.
like what they did to El capitan where you can finally move spotlight box around.

Apple is very secretive about their products, even their difficulties. I don't know what prevented them form allowing a split view in non-zoom mode. I guess because of the battery life? LOL.
This works. And from a programming perspective I can kind of see it.
I hope this is fixed in a new release.
That is to bad I think the split would very handy. That's a bummer man. Just tried to split the keyboard , couldn't figure it out. And now this? Why? Oh why?

Yes, I agree. Plus even if you couldn't reach in landscape mode you could switch to portrait mode and type like I am right now on the Pro. It would be way easier if split screen was available. Methinks it's just to get people to buy the way-overpriced keyboards.
I don't think its to sell more keypads. My guess is that its a toss-up between people dropping the tablet too often when holding it at the corners, and risk of wrist fatigue / injury when holding at the corners. If it is either of these two things, there is very little chance that they will relent and add the feature back in.
It's too bad, because it stopped me from buying one. A tablet I have to set down to use is not a tablet in my opinion - not at least for my purposes.
I have the Air currently, and was all set for my 2 year upgrade. Since there's no chance of me buying last year's model, I now I have to wait and see what they come out with next year. Hopefully a Pro-Mini with split keyboard and maybe an 11-inch screen 🙂 .
On the other hand maybe they'll do something clever like have split keyboard but move the keyboard up a couple inches.

Ah, interesting! Have you tried it, and if so, does it seem to work well?
It would be great if this also have cursor up/left/down/right to use as well (although the two-finger quasi-trackpad recently added helps a lot to cover for the lack of cursor keys).
