Gaming Question (Couldn't find anywhere else)

Sorry if this was posted anywhere else, but I couldn't find the answer. I am looking into buying a MacBook with at least 1GB RAM. As I know the Pro series is much better for gaming, I want to know if a few games will run under the MacBook, as I can't afford even the refurbished Pros. I understand I will have to install XP to get most of these to work, which is what I use now. Here goes:

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (Windows vers)
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast (Windows vers)
Lego Star Wars II
Star Wars Battlefront II
Area 51
Worms 4
Planetside

With the Jedi Knight series, I can shell out the cash for the now increasingly rare mac vesions if I need to. Can anybody give some help on these? I know I will have to make some sacrifices on graphics level for most if not all of them.

Hey, has anyone tried playing Oblivion (Elder Scrolls IV) through boot camp? Or any game with a min. processor speed of 2 GHz?

I'm next to certain that the 64MB VRAM limit on the GMA950 everyone keeps talking about is a minimum allocation. The integrated graphics will never use less than 64MB (which is enough to support even the highest double-buffered 2-d screen resolutions). It will dynamically use more available RAM when necessary for 3-d computations. To put in 2GB RAM is probably the best suggestion to make room for the integrated graphics dynamic allocations and still have plenty of room for the applications.

Per Intel's website regarding the GMA 950 (the graphics chipset in the MacBook), here is a list of games that should work and should not work when running on the MacBook under Windows (page is actually about the 945GM chipset which includes the GMA 950 graphics chipset):

Im also a first time mac purchaser (the ibook i have is free) . I bought the MacBook for podcasting and various other reasons, but I would also like to know whats the best game you can run on it.

Hey i have a macbook with 2gb ram and 2.2 GHZ

i was wondering if i could play games using parallels, or if it is best to just use bootcamp.

It would be best to use Boot Camp since there is a performance penalty when using games under Parallels. In addition, there is better game compatibility when running them native under Boot Camp then under virtualization under Parallels.

I just installed crossover and managed to get counter strike:source working! I am very impressed as I only have a macbook 2.16 with 1gb of ram. Admittedly I had to put it on the lowest settings but it did run quite smoothly. I'd previously tried it through parrallels but found it unplayable.

Read with interest your post on your recommendations for good software for the MB. Im due to get mine this week and if you wouldnt mind i would be grateful if you could share that info. Ive had to settle for the MB due to size constraints!

I am currently a PC user. I am looking to make the switch over to Mac. I am looking into a Macbook but my main concern is the ability to game on it. Im thinking of just getting a plain macbook due to money issues. And the main game I am looking to run is World of Warcraft, can anyone advise me on how it runs for them if they have any experience with it. I will go up to Macbook pro if need be I suppose, i just want the game to run smoothly and Ive had issues with shared memory on PC before but have no experience with Mac so i dont know how it effects the game play on one. I appreciate any information. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone tried playing Rome: Total War in Bootcamp? I'm running a GMA 950 graphics card; do I have a chance at running this game successfully?

Better yet, do I have any luck at running Medieval II: Total War?

Rome requires 64 mb of video memory, so, going by this article ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303407), my computer will allocate 80mb for video performance, which will allow the game to run successfully, correct?

Medieval II requires 128mb for its graphics.

I'm becoming increasingly enamored with games available exclusively for PCs, so I want to try and save some cash by outfitting my Mac for the games before I go out to buy a gaming PC. (I also cannot afford a MBP...)

I'm running a 2GHz Intel C2D w/ 1 GB RAM and a GMA 950 for graphics.
