iPad Pro System Sounds Abnormally Low

I've played around with the volume slder in Sounds setting screen but only get a momentary improvement in these sounds - lock sound, keyboard clicks, sent mail, various alerts. I'm on the release software (9.1). Listening to music or videos is terrific, the speaker system is amazing. But those system sounds remain extremely low even with the volume slider and side buttons adjusted to max. I've restarted and force restarted with no change. I feel that this must be software related since I can get the full volume from those sounds momentarily but as soon as I leave the settings app they're back to extremely low.

Hhas anyone else run into this and/or found a resolution?

I Have 43.7 gb of my 128 filled (18 gb of which is music as my iPad is also my music storage system, used with my Bose Wave) and only have 20 gb of iCloud storage. I have already gotten notifications that iCloud backups can't be performed due to lack of storage. I could pay for even more, but won't.

i Have tried on numerous occasions to perform a full backup to iTunes of both my old iPad 2 and this new iPad Pro. Everytime I get a notice that a backup can't be done due to insufficient hard disc space.....even though I have more thsn 300 gb free space available. When I googled it I found out that this is a widespread problem which started a few incarnations of iTunes ago. Other people with plenty of free hard disc space are getting the same error message. So it isn't just me having the problem.

by the way....i am not a stupid person. It is not that I refuse to listen. It is that I am bright enough to realize that restoring it to factory settings will do nothing but restore the problem as well.....since, as I have already stated....this problem existed from the moment my iPad came out of the box, same as it did for everyone else.....so it came out of the factory with the problem. Having read through all the posts here and on other websites, that "remedy" has already been tried by numerous others with no success.

That was before the update. Since then it seems to be only you having the problem. Being it was a software issue, you really have two options. Do what others have suggested and set it up as a new one and restore from there. Either that or go through Apple Care. They will give you two options, try to set it up as a new one so that it updates to the newest IOS without anything else installed and then restore your info, or return it and they will send you a new one, that you can setup as new and then restore. If you go with Apple Care and get a new one, if you don't set it up as new and then restore your programs from the iCloud, There is 99% chance you will have the same problem as you do now. It appears that any iCloud backup you restore the system from would get the same corrupted part. And yes, it's happened to me on two iphones before we figured out the corrupted backup was the cause.

Not trying to make it frustrating, but I don't see you fixing this problem with user help, it's time for support before you go bald or run out of warranty.

So...i connected my iPad Pro to my MacBook Pro and chose to do a repair of the IOS 9.2 install. Doing this saved all my data, photos, etc. And finally success! I now have alert sounds I can hear from other rooms in the house. I normally do IOS updates via iTunes in the same way, but last night I got lazy and just did my update via wi-fi. My install from last night must have been incomplete. :-)

You can restore from iTunes. The restore re-downloads and installs the software and then you can restore from a backup. The assumption is that the OTA software update was somehow incomplete or corrupted. It's worth a shot if the update did not fix the volume issue for you. Or you can first choose Update while connected to iTunes which should just reload the current software without touching any of your content. That alone may be sufficient.

You can do the restore. There is a way to get the software re-installed. You put the device into recovery mode by turning it off and then connecting the cable from your computer and hold the Home button down at the same time until you see the connect to iTunes message appear. itunes should launch if it isn't already and then you will get options to Update or Restore. Again Update will just load the current software, restore wipes the device and re-installs everything.

Performing the restore from the beginning as you noted is probably simplest. But make sure you have a backup to restore from.

No, there is no 'repair' option. Sorry if I caused confusion using that term. I meant that I was able to chose to fix it, not that there is any actual repair option. I simply used the update option for my iPad. It seems my install of IOS 9.2 was incomplete, so I was able to install the IOS 9.2 update again. In my case I likely didn't get the "already installed" notice because most of it hadn't installed.

So I would assume this is not a fix that will work for everyone, only in similar circumstances. At least it worked in my case. My iPad is working properly now.

Thanks, those were the instructions I was looking for. Unfortunately, neither method solved the problem. I tried simply updating the software again, to no avail. Then I did a full restore, which also didn't fix the issue. In my case, I'm not getting any notification sounds at all, nor do I get the screen lock sound or the keyboard clicks. They aren't just abnormally low, they are non - existent. And yes, I've checked all my settings multiple times. It's not muted or in do not disturb mode and all sounds are enabled with volume maxed. I'm headed to the apple store after work to exchange it for a new one. Hopefully THAT solves the problem.

Have same issue since purchase. Two techs could not fix prob. Suspect it's a hardware issue and we are stuck with it. Drives me crazy. Also, having an intermittent wake from sleep problem every 4-5 mins, and prob where ipad occasionally freezes/locks up. Apple needs to get busy and address these issues as many are experiencg same probs!
