OK.

Step by step:

  1. click here > MyAppleID
  2. login with the 'wrong' email address and your current password

See if there is a User uploaded fileat the bottom of the "Apple ID and Primary Email Address" section
(and let us know - this is NOT part of the process, only for our info - I can see no way that this could be since your 'wrong' email address is the current one)

  3. Click the "edit" link to the right of that section (the scene will change)
  4. enter your 'right' email address
  5. click [Save]
  6. you will likely get an email to the right email address VERY quickly asking you to verify OR saying that "if you did this, you can take no further action" or somesuch (I have not changed my email address before, but I have made many other changes)

That should do it.

My "wrong" email address is not my current Apple ID. It's an old one and only works on this support site.

Got this on the Apple ID page when I logged in with the "wrong" address: A verification email was previously sent to "Wrong Address" We can resend the verification email to the same address, or if this address is incorrect you can change your Apple ID and email address.

When I tried to edit the "wrong" Apple ID, I got this: This email address is already in use with another Apple ID.

Since I don't want to change my correct Apple ID or address, I will just let this go and continue to use the "wrong" one for this site. I just won't be able to get any emails. Too bad there's no way to edit my email address on this site.

OK. There is no such thing as "current" Apple ID - unless you mean that it is the one of the two Apple IDs that you describe as your "preferred" Apple ID.

Apple IDs never go away, but they can slide into oblivion without being used.

When attempting to change your email address, what all that stuff is telling you is that you cannot use your 'right' email address for BOTH Apple IDs as the Primary email address. Neither can you use the 'wrong' email address for both.

An email address is a unique identifier WORLDWIDE = nobody on Earth can have the same one as you.

Neither can you COMBINE "kohls" ASC activity into your "other" Apple ID.

Do you want to resolve this? If so, you need to get another email address that WORKS from Yahoo or Gmail or Outlook and set it up in your Mail client to make sure it works right > THEN change your "kohls" Primary to the NEW email = Voila! email notices from ASC!

Many folks (including me) have more than one Apple ID. ChitlinsCC is the one I use exclusively for ASC - no purchases etc. -- I have seen one member claim to have 100s (not sure I believe it though)

Rather than me guessing, why don't you state exactly what your GOAL is, rather than asking about how to do something that may or may not be attainable?

We are pretty good at problem solving, but some things just cannot be done - even by Apple.

I was hoping to be able to edit my email address on this site so I could get email notifications. The problem is that when I created the Apple ID that I use for this forum, I inadvertently left out a letter in the email address, so it's not valid. I've tried logging in with the Apple ID that I use for other transactions, but I always get this message and then nothing happens, so I don't know what good it would do to get yet another Apple ID.

Let's do this like a "project"

What you will need

A valid email address NOT being used in any other way for Apple Services

What you will do

Login to kohls and change the Primary Email Address to the above UNused email address

Steps

  1. login to <https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage> kohls with the 'wrong' email address
  2. choose the "edit" link to the right of the "Apple ID and Primary Email Address" section
  3. ENTER the UNused email address into the field that appears
  4. click the [Save] button

Report back what happens

- the "Back Soon" page means that Apple had the service DOWN for MAINTENANCE at that moment.

If this REPEATS, then you have a BUG attached to your Apple ID and only Apple Real Persons can help - we will cross that bridge if necessary.
