Magic Mouse 2 - Can't turn off Swipe Between Pages

Just purchased a Magic Mouse 2 to replace a worn out Magic Mouse. I prefer turning off swipe between pages since it makes me nuts in Safari. Unchecking this worked fine for my original Magic Mouse, but I cannot turn off the behavior with the Magic Mouse 2. I chatted with Apple which recommended a restart and if that didn't work removing the relevant plist files. Neither of those worked. I googled and it looks like one other person has this problem. I'm not sure about other behaviors as this is the only one that really bugs me. Any help is appreciated. I'm running the latest El Capitan on a late '13 MBP 15" Retina.

It seems to be affecting all mouse options. However, i have discovered that by changing the settings for the trackpad, that the mouse follows those, so that's fine for now.

All that info was in that post. I stated I had the same OS (system) and iMac as the original poster. Sorry. I'll look elsewhere.

I don't need lectures ...Just help or solutions. I've been a mac owner for 20 years now, and currently own 7 Apple computers and other devices... but I am new to this forum. My apologies for troubling you.

I didn't know how to write a new thread and this one came up in a google search, and seemed to fit my problem.

Thanks. =(

Hello Benvoice,

You aren't troubling anyone. I was trying to show you that an outdated thread would not attract the attention you deserve. To start a new one, go to the appropriate forum and select 'Post' then 'discussion', write the details I outlined and that will attract attention. I'm trying to be helpful, not lecture you. If that is a problem then I will back off and hope someone will take an interest.

I should've just stayed silent and kept reading ahead. I've solved the problem with an update. Your line about "Turn off" just sounded a bit harsh. It actually made me feel a little stupid for even posting. Had you written what you just wrote in the first place I would've been very appreciative. Thank you for taking the time to follow up. =))

Have a great day.

Best,

Ben

I'm pleased you have now resolved your problem. Few would be consciously harsh to another member; we all use and understand words differently.

For what it's worth, people who try to help often prefer to relate to an individual rather than a whole host of differing problems. They all seem the same on the surface but with varying machines, OSs and

third party apps to contend with, answers are often not the same.

But you are now happy.

I can't turn it off, either. Un-checking the swipe box makes no difference.

VERY annoying. Unintended swipes take me places I didn't want to go.

My first reply disappeared, so trying again.

Can't disable swipe by unchecking the box. VERY annoying.

But, checking the box and selecting 1-finger scroll left or right makes it less likely that 2 fingers will send me places I didn't want to go. Still a problem within Excel.

I'm thinking wired generic mouse.

After several years of fighting it, I finally reached the point of "too much" today.

Can't disable swipe by unchecking the box. VERY annoying.

I did discover checking the box and selecting 1-finger scroll left or right makes it less likely that 2 fingers will send me places I didn't want to go. Still a problem within Excel.

I restart every morning.

I'm thinking wired generic mouse. Fortunately I still have an old one.

And no batteries to replace or recharge.

I see this as part of the trend of Apple pushing new features and workflows while orphaning long-time users with established, efficient workflows that work for us.

Sorry about the multiple posts, if any.

The site is being difficult and unpredictable for me.
