I am having problems adding my gmail account to Mail. I've followed instructions on both the gmail account and Mail but it's still not synching. Help!

I'm having problems adding my gmail account to Mail. I seem to be doing everything correctly but it's not synching the mail. I've deleted and tried adding it again a few times. I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

It readily accepted the gmail account. Should I use Thunderbird instead of Mail? I'm assuming I can add my comcast account as well and I don't need two email systems on my desktop. This would replace my Mail, correct?

Affirmative. There is no need using both,however i'm not sure if you can uninstall Mail completely cause it's a system application. Check if comcast works well and let me know. Good feedback like "helpful answer" would be appreciated 😁

Comcast seems to work well too. I guess I'll switch from Mail to Thunderbird. It was really easy too. I wanted to make life easier for myself but was banging my head against the wall trying to do it. I really appreciate your help. Thank you.
