Dark areas on iMacs Display!

I have noticed a small grey degrade on my iMac left bottom corner about a month ago. Recently I noticed the same problem on the top left of the screen, though not at the corner but a few centimeters close to the corner.
Does anyone know what this is? Can I fix it? Do I have to sent it for fixing?
Does anyone else have the same problem?

2 GHz Intel Core Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.8), 512 MB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

im also noticing this issue, my first inclination was that it was a heat problem since it was dark and it looks like it's over areas of the computer that would normally get hot such as the cpu/heatsink. it ***** that apple has no permenant fix for it instead of just giving you a replacement screen that will develop the same problems over time.
