Half moon next to contact on iPhone
one of my contacts has a 1/2 moon next to her texts. There is no text tone when she texts but there is a tone for other contacts.

Open your Messages App. Tap the contact that has the grey half-moon next to it. When the messages open, tap the circle "i" icon in the top right corner. Under the name, you will see "Send My Current Location" and "Share My Location" in blue. Beneath that you will see "Hide Alerts." If that is green, tap on it to make it white. That will turn that function off. Tap "Done" in the top left corner to seal the deal.
It worked for me.
I have tried every suggestion I can find to remove the half moon by a contact and nothing has worked
I can not find the do not disturb to turn it off
Thanks!!!! This worked, the other info to see do not disturb under name, does not show on my iPhone X.
As others have said, open a text from that contact then click on the information icon (i within a circle) however rather than looking for a Do Not Disturb button, look at the “Hide Alerts” option and slide that to Off and then close it out. When you go back to your Messages there should no longer be the moon next to thier name/pic
She isn’t crazy. I was having the same issue and people kept giving the instruction to turn off the do not disturb when that is NOT an option. Nor does it say DO NOT DISTURB in the contact info. It’s the HIDE ALERT option that needed to be turned off. It helps when people who give answers actually give THE RIGHT ANSWER!
Hi Lmuhlenbeuck. Can you explain what you mean when you say "next to her texts?" If possible, please provide a snapshot for an example. Take a snapshot by pressing the home button and sleep button at the same time. Also, when you say that there is no text tone, do you mean that when you receive a text it is silent, whereas other contacts receive a text tone?
That symbol is visible when the "do not disturb" is on. I had it show up with texts from a friend even though I never opted to use the Do Not Disturb (didn't even know it was there). To get rid of it:
Click on the message. The screen with the text should have a Details box in the upper right corner. Click on that & undo the Do Not Disturb option.
That is because you enable the "DO NOT DISTURB" feature on that specific phone number. Kindly open His/Her contact info and tap "EDIT" and at the very bottom you will see "DISABLE/ENABLE DO NOT DISTURB"
GB
I did not enable this feature. I have had iPhones most of my adult life. I think I would know if I silenced my fiancé.
Just answer the question and stop assuming. This is sounds like a bug within Apple systems.
I have done what you posted and there is no feature at the end or anywhere in my contact before or after tapping Edit.
It means for her, do not disturb is on. To turn it off go to her contact and tap the info button in the top right corner then turn off do not disturb. Hope this helps!
In your text app. tap on the contact with the issue. At the top right hand corner tap the little information icon (little i with circle around it). Before the photos and after their name somewhere in the mix is the Do not Disturb button. Tap on that and that should take care of the problem.
