Can't boot into windows after resizing partitions

I tried to resize my bootcamp and mac partitions recently

I cannot boot into windows now

Get an error about missing MBR

Do you think you could help me here?

I read about using GPT fdisk on another thread

These are the results I got from it

Wanted to check before doing anything

1. Is there a cloud-compatible profile that many computers across multiple locations can share?

2. iTunes is fine, because the media is very seldom updated. Once the content has been stored, only associated data is updated, but not the content or it's metadata.

3. You can use CloneZilla to make a copy of the entire disk, before you play with Camptune, so you have an exact image copy.

4. I would not recommend using DU/Windows LDM. Use Camptune because such tools make coordinated changes to multiple disk structures.

1. that would be a good idea .... to allow an entire mozilla product profile structure to exist in a cloud that can allow the locally installed apps to go seek the profile from the cloud each time the app is used. with firefox, there's 'sync' which auto syncs as well as allows manual invoking. I use it to store the bookmarks, settings, loaded pages i use on my pc so that I have access to the same on other devices which i have firefox running. But I don't think mozilla is there yet for thuderbird. I guess the compelling argument for that would be that if ppl liked the ability to download all their email in a local client for safe keeping, then migrating a thunderbird profile to the cloud allows other instances of thunderbird to be started on more than one device and the user would have access to all their emails anywhere (not just on the device where the profile is locally stored). For me I would like something like that. Others might prefer to use IMAP instead. I guess it's user preference ?

2. since i got my macbook pro, i have been using both windows and os 10, but as time passes i am transitioning to more exclusive use of os 10 as I get comfortable with it. eventually at some point i will let go of windows alltogether or just keep it around for software i have already invested in or things i just can't do the way i want in os 10. with itunes i found it most comfortable to be able to access my library thru both os's, hence i was using either os to make adjustments/changes to my library. but knowing there could be subtle differences with the way the windows version thinks, it's best to make library changes only while in os 10. i can still continue to use itunes in windows for playback. now i have both versions of itunes access the same library files which are on the NAS. I think this could be a problem.

3. i will make a few more tweaks to the os's, clean them up as much as possible and then clone the disk before i decide to take a shot at camptune. my only concern is if i have to restore an image using clonezilla, will it come thru as it has in the past on other machines ? i am guessing it will unless there is something it's not cloning correctly which it should be. so far i've done a few image backups with verbose verification so that each cloned image is checked and confirmed restorable. i just hope there is no chance that the start and end sectors of each partition might get hosed.

4. understood.

it has been a while since i downloaded my clonezilla version, and have not had a need to restore an image to the macbook pro yet so I am not 100% certain whether or not the architecture i am now using is a good one.

does the late 2013 macbook pro (15" retina) support uEFI secure boot ? if so, I will download the latest clonezilla architecture for that (AMD64 ubuntu-based) ....

otherwise I would need to use the AMD64 debian-based ....

sorry this just occurred to me, probably a good idea to ask now and catch it in case i'm using the wrong architecture and do not know if it will restore fully ....

You can also use Terabyte Image for Linux (TBiL) as an alternative.

The Late 2013 models will support UEFI. I am using W8.1 UEFI on a Late 2013 15-in rMBP.

I'd rather stick to free/open source software for this.

I guess where I'm looking for advice is: should I use AMD64 ubuntu-based Clonezilla which supports uEFI secure boot or AMD64 debian-based Clonezilla which I am not sure if it does support uEFI secure boot ?

I assume my windows 10 installation uses uEFI, however I am not sure if the mac OS installation uses uEFI.

Unless Clonezilla won't clone the entire disk sucessfully due to this difference, then maybe I'll look at other options like that you suggested. But if i chose to pay for disk imaging software I'd want to be certain that it can seamlessly support these partitions in a single image and restore them successfully.

Loner T .... question for you:

do you think that the ntfs driver in os 10 can cause problems on the macintosh hd volume as i experienced ? or is it the other way around where the hfs+ driver in windows caused problems for the macintosh hd volume ?

i am not looking to tinker with the firmware or uefi on my computer or setup any kind of disk encryption.

thanks.

i was able to configue my os's with no errors on any volumes or the disk, then i created an image sucessfully.

the underlying reason for resizing is to make a common partition for both os's so i can easily share files without relying on wifi and my nas. i noticed that firefox and thunderbird profiles grow to quite a large amount of files and folders when the programs are running, many thousands of files and folders for firefox which causes huge hangups when communicating with the nas over wifi. but if i copy these profiles directly to a usb drive the copy operation is super fast.

i am exploring using portable thunderbird on the new shareable partition, because the portable version is designed for multi platform sharing.

i am thus ready to resize with camptune. do you have any suggestions on the partition type ? extfat or fat32 ? i want the one that will work best for read/write access from either win10 or os10.
