Can't sign up for unroll.me

The iOS app unroll.me refuses to accept my iCloud email and password, giving me an error telling me to check their accuracy. I have done so several times and am certain I am entering correct information.

Has anyone had similar problems? I've sent a help request to the unroll.me site, but so far no response.

(I would submit this to the iOS App community, but those choice are restricted to specific apps. There are no General iOS App or General iOS Communities I can find. This in itself is a problem. I'm posting to the Using iPhone community as a possible alternative.)

For what it's worth I'm having the exact same issue and it's driving mad. I have 2-step verification so I created an app-specific password but even that didn't work. And to the helpful guys with "THAT'S NOT AN APPLE PRODUCT!" permanently in their clipboard, relax! It's not like the OP used up too much precious server bandwidth posting the question. This is a community. Believe it or not there are people here who actually like to try to help other people BECAUSE we're all using Apple products.

Hey all,
Thought I'd share my current issue with unroll.me:

The Unroll service worked fine for years for me, all the way up until it not working, a few months ago.
Newsletters began landing directly into inbox... and at the same time, I stopped getting Unroll weekly digests.

Unroll.me tech support concluded with:

Cory,

After looking into it, this issue is being caused by the IMAP server not accepting your iCloud login credentials. Without the proper credentials, the IMAP server will not allow you access into your account, which is why you are not able to sign up for an Unroll.Me account. This is something that is completely out of Unroll.Me's control, and not something we can influence.

If you would like to try again, please make sure you are entering the correct email address + password combination, and please make sure you do not have 2-step verification enabled on your account (if you do have it enabled, you will need to create an app-specific password for Unroll.Me).

Best,

Arye | Unroll.me Support

Preface for context: my original, primary Apple ID email address is*********(created during my young and unprofessional days) — I’ve since used ******** as an alias for years for everything email related, including newsletter sign-ups that Unroll.me used to sequester.

I think my having 2 email addresses is causing an IMAP-related screwup somewhere within the datashare between Unroll.me and Apple/iCloud mail servers?
I'd love to figure this out as Unroll.me was a daily blessing, and - quite simply - I need the **** service back before my inbox explodes.

Any hardcore Apple/iCloud Mail Server experts have any advice?

Thanks,

Cory

I just signed up for Unroll.me using an app-specific password which I created just for this purpose. Others reported this did not work, but it worked for me, so you might want to give it another try. Make sure you create a new app-specific password, rather than re-use one you created for another purpose. Perhaps that's the difference.

I got this same issue a few weeks ago and just tried created an app specific password and after a failed first attempt I tried again logging into the unroll.me website and second time it logged me in, then tried the app again and sure enough it also worked. I need to see now if I stop getting flooded with junk but so far looking good.

for anyone not sure where to go to do this, log into Apple ID from the link in the post above then go to security and it's towards the bottom. Takes seconds.

I had the same issue just now and upon reading above comments, figured it was because I recently turned on two-factor authetication on my phone.

I reverted back to security questions and it let me log in fine.

I didn't try the app-specific password gen (Using app-specific passwords - Apple Support) but seems to work for above users.

HI there. I've had this happen twice, shortly after I've added new iphone/ipad. Customer support for the unroll me helped me the first time, and this time I remembered what to do.

You need to create an app specific password for unroll me. It generates a password. I named it Unroll Me when prompted. Then copied and pasted it when trying to sign into Unroll me and it opened right up and retained all the emails I had rolled up and kept. 😎

Here is how to do it:
