iOS 9.2 causing lag in Logitech Create keyboard for iPad Pro

iOS 9.2 has significantly weakened the performance of the Logitech Create keyboard for iPad Pro. It had been instantly responsive--one of the very best features that made the combo feel like a laptop. With 9.2 keys strokes are dropped left and right, and there's a noticeable lag in the key appearing on screen. Very, very frustrating. I saw it referenced in this thread:

Re: iPad Pro smart keyboard shortcuts stop working

And I've seen a mention on Twitter too. What's going on? Has anyone talked with Logitech?

I'm having the same issue. After 9.2 update the Logitech Create keyboard on my iPad Pro is basically unusable because I'm having to go back and fix so many dropped keystrokes, rearranged letters, etc. There is also a noticeable lag from when I type to when the characters appear on screen where before it was instant. Must be something software related because it was right after the 9.2 update that it started happening.

It sure seem to have made an improvement (resetting network settings), but i still wouldnt call it 100%. This text box / input now works much better, but still drops every 50-100 kestrokes though. And I am still experiencing issues in MS Word..

I am also interested in knowing if this "US International Kayboard" fix has any bearing if you are using a keaybord of another layout. I am using a Swedish keyboard, and dont see how this would help me (unless i change the virtual keyboard layout/language to US, at which point I cannot really type in my language..)

Perhaps this fix only works for US keaboards atm..?

Thanks for the idea and I am glad it worked for you but changing to the U.S. International Keyboard and resetting the network settings has made no difference at all in the behavior of the Logitech Create keyboard for me. Still dropping letters continually, capitalizing the first two letters of words with a cap in the first character, space bar results in the cursor running across the screen, etc. Were there any particular steps Apple had you follow to effect the change? Simply changing the hardware keyboard setting and resetting the network settings has resulted in nothing but losing all my network passwords.

I ended up returning it to Best Buy. I don't have time to wait around for the whatever fix is incoming if all at. Logitech support was no help, Apple blames Logitech and doesn't offer any advice beyond restart the iPad. I suspect this was a smart move by Apple to help promote their flimsy flappy overpriced keyboard, and it worked because I broke down and got one. Works flawlessly.

Out of complete desperation I signed up for iOS Public Beta updates in an effort to make the iPad Pro and Logitech Create keyboard useful again after being rendered useless by the iOS 9.2 update. I just installed iOS 9.3 Public Beta Release 1 and there is absolutely no improvement to the problem. If anything it might even be worse. The Logitech keyboard drops keystrokes more than ever, misses or adds spaces, double capitalizes the first two characters of words, etc. This a mess and the first Apple/Loitech product combination that I feel was a complete waste of money. Apple has totally screwed Logitech with their iOS 9.2 update no doubt costing them sales and numerous returns. If I were Logitech I would have an army of lawyers after Apple for this monumental screw up. The Logitech Create keyboard was a fabulous keyboard until the iOS 9.2 update. Thanks Apple for ruining it and making our investment worthless.

To all, don't bother with any efforts at iOS 9.3 Beta in hopes of solving this problem. It is worse than ever.

I think part of the reason this is taking so long to fix must be that it's so inconsistent. There have been several reports of complete or near complete fixes, but few people are able to reproduce them. I wish I had some sense of how many users, if any, have not been affected by all this mess. Ever since I installed the 9.3 beta yesterday my keyboard has been *mostly* fixed - there is still the occasional key that gets stuck on repeat (hitting cmd+tab seems to get stuck repeating somewhat consistently), but the missed keys are no longer a problem and the lag is either gone or greatly improved.

This is way too much hassle for a keyboard though. This a $150 keyboard, it's the lowest bandwidth input device in existence, and it barely functions (or doesn't function at all, depending on whether you've found the right combination of magic to get yours to work). Whether it's Apple's fault or Logitech's fault doesn't really matter, the truth is that we're all chumps for being early adopters. My next step is to see whether I can return the whole thing, iPad, keyboard, pencil and all...

So out of utter desperation after trying all of the suggestions I have seen here to date and those on the Logitech forum up to and including installing iOS 9.3 Public Beta Release 1 to no avail, this evening I set about trying other permutations of settings on the iPad Pro to see if any yielded some results. After installing iOS 9.3 the keyboard became so unusable I was on the verge of returning it and would have had there been an Apple Store anywhere nearby. That said, I tried using the hardware keyboard setting "ABC Extended" under Settings > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard, and while not perfect it has improved the situation enough to make the Logitech Create keyboard semi-usable again. Still some errors and dropped characters but not nearly as many as before.

Since the results of all the various "fixes" proposed to date seem to have highly variable results from one keyboard/iPad to the next, your mileage may vary. But just in case, give this one a try. Otherwise I am out of ideas as we wait for Apple/Logitech to respond with something other than "we are looking into it."

Here is something funny. I attempted to give the Logitech product a bad review in Amazon. I followed their guidelines exactly. They rejected my review because it was negative. If you write a bad review about any big brand name in Amazon; they will block it. According to Amazon reviews; there is nothing at all wrong with this product and everybody should rush right out and buy one.

It is little wonder that they have come under fire for allowing fake positive reviews to be written by companies that charge for this service.

IOS 9.3 scheduled for mid-February (but will likely be late as always) will do nothing to resolve these issues.

We just have to face that facts. It does not ever pay to be an early adopter with these kinds of companies. We messed up and now we must just Eat it.

I will use the only method left to me to fix mine. It is not permitted to speak of such things though. But what choice have they left us.

I paid for this junk and I'll do with it as I please.

I have made no changes since using this yesterday and today it is almost impossible to use. Since changing the keyboard in settings I've been getting about 8/10 for accuracy. Today it is more like 4/10. How can it be getting better and worse from day to day? It is cold today. Could it possibly be that? Feels so much like a hardware issue but must surely be a software one. So confused. Going to open up my ticket with Apple again to discuss and look at getting a full refund on both till the issue is fixed.

Out of interest, does anyone use GOOD technology apps? I have an intermittent issue with spell check. Sometimes words are underlined and sometimes not. When they are not underlined, you can still click on them to get the correct spelling. It can literally go from working to not and vice versa in the same e-mail - yet weirdly always works in the subject line. AH HA!! So glad I typed here as I'm getting the same issue here. It is not underlining misspelt words. Now this is surely a keyboard setting bug. I have all the settings correct but it its not shwoing the red underline. Anyone else noticing that in either GOOD or any other apps? More clues to hopefully help someone clever...
