Upgraded to 12.3.2.35 and now iTunes Store screens flashes

I just upgraded to iTunes 12.3.2.35 and now the iTunes Store screen flashes black. It happens 1 to 2 times per second, only the content portion of the screen (not the menu bar, etc.)

I've tried rebooting, diagnostics, etc. Does anyone have a fix?

This is my diagnostics screen:

I am new to this Community. When I am in the iTunes Store the screen flashes. I am using Windows 10 64-bit. I may not be looking in the right place but reading some of the posts I get the impression that Apple are looking into this problem. That being the case I would have thought I would have seen an announcement by Apple saying what is being done to fix the problem. But, as I say, maybe I am not looking in the right place? Also, there seems to be the suggestion that the problem can be fixed by downloading iTunes again. Any advice will be most welcome. Cheers, Rogey66.

If you've read through this and other threads you'll realize that there are two releases of iTunes both labeled "12.3.2.35". The first was released around Dec. 9 and causes problems with periodic flashing when the iTunes Store is viewed. The second was released Dec. 23/24 and fixes this issue, if you download and run the updated installer. Simply checking the version id using Help > About is not enough to determine that you have the amended version - if you installed 12.3.2 before Dec. 23, or simply aren't sure whether you have the"old" or "new" variant, download and install it now.

There is a second - possibly related - issue of display disruption on very high resolution monitors: this was first noted in iTunes 12.3.1 and has not been fixed in either variant of 12.3.2.35. It can be mitigated by reducing the size of the iTunes window.

I'm also having the same problem. I just bought a full album on iTunes (I assume then that I'm the type of customer that Apple likes).

This is but one of a long string of problems with Apple over the past couple years. I'm growing tired of Apple either "not working" or making worse something that did work.

Coincidentally, I'm going out to buy my son a new laptop this afternoon. He got a new iPod for Christmas (that's a toy and what Apple is focused on), but as for a real tool such as a laptop, I wouldn't dream of buying an Apple product.

For those responding to the original post from December 12, I'll ask again: have you downloaded and installed iTunes 12.3.2.35 since December 23? Apple pushed new versions of the installer just before the holidays - confusingly with the same build number as that released on December 9 - which most reports confirm fixes the flashing screen on the iTunes Store page. Are those adding "same problem" responses to this thread seeing the problematic behavior after reinstalling iTunes using the updated installer?

The only way to distinguish the two versions is in the file sizes of the installers:

Flawed version - iTunes Store page flickers:

  • original (December 9) installer, Windows 7 or later, 32-bit - iTunesSetup.exe - file size 117,524,248 bytes
  • original (December 9) installer, Windows 7 or later, 64-bit - iTunes6464Setup.exe - file size 167,608,088 bytes

Fixed version:

  • fixed (December 23/24) installer, Windows 7 or later, 32-bit - iTunesSetup.exe - file size 117,542,680 bytes
  • fixed (December 23/24) installer, Windows 7 or later, 64-bit - iTunes6464Setup.exe - file size 167,583,000 bytes

Once installed, both the "flawed" and "fixed" versions are identified as 12.3.2.35 in Help > About iTunes. The only way to distinguish them is in the behavior of the iTunes Store screen. The application files, even with the "fixed" version installed, still have creation dates of 2015-12-09.
